felt like doing something a bit more abstract than usual.im not completely satisfied with it tho, it feels a bit overworked.

I like it it reminds me of another piece i've seen somewhere, but i can't remember from who though, and I see that you used the 3rd's pretty good in the upper left.

thank you kindly.. i cant say there was a lot of emotion going on. i suppose on the subconscious level there was because of the strong shapes and colous. most of my images are more about the journey and the experience of creating them- the end result is nice, but it's the experience of doing it that is more satisfying.

Nah, I don't really think it's overworked. I just think it is on the edge of it being so (hoep you got what I mean). It is great indeed, I love your grunge style. While using colors, it stills retains the characteristic grungy feeling of a black&white pic. Great textures. No wonder you got a DD. Congrats ont that; you did a great job.

thank you. I think the reason i feel that it is overworked is because it had been a work in progress for awhile and i was having a hard time finding some sort of focus.
I like working in a more grungy style-- tho i don't think of it as grungy per se because most of the grungy work that i see is so dark. colour is such an important part of the process for me.. finding the right tones in just the right places and the over all flow of colour. I guess i dont think of it as grunge because it's more about the textures and the depth that they give.

Hmmm very interesting. I'm more of a B&W grunge person myself, but you have a very nice point of view on it. You seem really talented from what you are saying. Wish I could learn something from you 
Anyway, I understand you on the overworking issue so don't worry, as the final result is great as it is. Congrats again!

there's some great b/w grunge out there. basically it all boils down to whatever visual language suits you, its when you start to add your own nuances to your work that it is able to transcend, when it starts to speak for itself. as artists we are constantly refining and adding new layers and meanings and depths to our visual language.

the top portion was taken from a photograph of a ferris wheel that i took on my cannon digital rebel most of the other textures are just taken from random bits of photographs of mine and lots of fun brushwork with the burn/dodge/ and eraser tools.

I have the digital rebel eos 300d. 6.1 megapixel. I got a good deal on it since it was 'last years' model. I absolutely love the damn thing. I have a traditional SLR and it got broke so i decided to take the plunge into digital slrs-- and im glad that i did. the only thing that im unhappy with is that i wish there was a way to shoot in black and white.

Cool. I've been thinking of going digital, but I love working in the darkroom so I'm sticking with my film. There's just so many different effects you can get in the darkroom.

yes i could by using photoshop.. but it's not quite the same as shooting in black and white. thankfully tho i was able to get my minolta traditional slr repaired so that if i wanted to shoot on film i can.
