I've never been one to disagree with you that often, my brother. I've kept a good eighty-five percent agreement with everything you say, do, think, and create, even if it's something negative about me. I've always found that you were right about most things you've said, and the few times that I didn't think you were right and rebelled against you were also the times in which those events ended in my misfortune. I've grown to enjoy agreeing with you because of this.
I've always looked up to you, as you're the eldest brother between the two of us. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be able to do the things that you're able to. I want to be able to write brilliantly, to draw averagely, to make friends with little to no problem, to know how to react with society, and so much more. I've striven to follow in your footsteps of talent ever since you wrote your first novel, Sonic and the Master of Chaos.
Sadly though, my talent has always lived in the shadow of yours. While it's true that my writings are a bit more famous than yours, they're merely echoes of the passionate roars that you originally gave off. You're a much better writer than I am, even if I was the one who inspired you. You've managed to become much more skilled in the art of literature in a few years than I could hope to be in a few decades. You've progressed so much quicker than me, and done so much more. It's truly inspiring to compare myself to someone with such a great amount of talent. Now I know what I want to be like as a writer once I have progressed enough to reach your level.
However, there are two things keeping the knowledge of knowing what I want to strive for away from me: The fact that I now live in Minnesota while you reside in Arkansas, and the fact that you are going to the Hendrix college in just a matter of months. You will have very little time to write anymore, since you'll be working all of the time. Since this is the case, I won't have anything to show me examples of an amazing writer. My work will have to stand on its own.
I'm frightened, brother. I'm scared that the echo that is my literature will eventually begin to fade into nothingness after your vigorous cry. I truly have been writing to the best of my ability, but I've been told again and again by critics that I'm not very good.
While it's true that they do tell me how I can improve, I don't believe that they tell me often enough. Once has anybody ever told me how it is that I can get better as a writer, and that one time someone advised me was when I foolishly claimed that I was already brilliant the way I was. Rather than admitting that I still had much to learn, I let my arrogance overcome me. I suppose that this action would discourage everybody else from advising me. Why would you waste your time giving advice to someone who's simply going to deny that they did anything wrong to begin with? You wouldn't.
But this is beside the point. What I should be saying is that I'm going to miss you when you're gone, my brother. I know that you spent six months' time away from me not that long ago, and that I didn't seem to miss you then, but... at least I could have read the Ultima Predator series that you've been working on with your friend as some kind of means to show me how to get better. When you'll be in college, all that will be put to an end; I'll no longer be able to read anything it is that you'll have in your mind simply because you won't have the time to write anything down. However, if I'm wrong by some chance (I hope that I am) and you do have time to write things, then I'll gladly read what it is that you have to offer me with a smile on my face.
I know that you'll have a lot of work to do aside from your literature though, and aside from that I'm aware that you'll also have to attend to personal matters. It's clear to me that your hands will be quite full. For this reason, I wish you good luck in completing all that needs to be done! I'm more than certain that you'll be able to accomplish all of your personal goals, pay off your college (which should be easy, since that's already been done, or so I've heard), manage to make a passing grade in each class you're placed in to get a job of your choice, all with relative ease. After all, it's you who'll be placed in this situation, isn't it?
