Description
the 'American Airlines' Space Freighters Valley Forge,Berkshire and the Sequoia silently orbit Saturn, carrying the hopes of humanity with them...for as long as the money lasts,at least....recreating another iconic scene from another of my favourite movies..
'Valley Forge' mesh by 'Treybor' ,Saturn mesh by Ulrich "ulimann644" Kuehn downloaded from Foundation 3D,starfield by by Axeman3D,downloaded from www.kennyscrap.com,rendered as 5 elements in Lightwave 9.6,compositing and tidying up in psp X2 by me..

Very good job, though I think you should've included some of Saturn's moons in the background in addition to the planet itself.

I just rewatched that film a couple of days ago. It's still gut-wrenching and powerful.

the models look great. Saturn looks good. The only thing i would change on the models would be a little more seperation between the domes, they seem bunched too close together.

Excellent, excellent, excellent!
Its great you view this a great film, dunno when you saw it but me I was 11 and it influenced me since. The agro domes were WOW! All created by SFX uber genius Douglass Trumball. He of Close Encounters, BladeRunner, and Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Fantastic!

they do look like microwave towers. Microwave towers have domed round antennas on top of them with red lightning bolts painted on.

Nice. That was a pretty cool movie. I'm actually modeling a very similar-looking ship right now, what with the pipes/framework and all.

Purdy! I rewatched it recently and some bits don't really hold up, but the ship and drones... well, they're classics. Can't beat 'em. A fine homage!

Just don't get your expectations up too high.
Actually... maybe I'm just over-reacting to the schmaltzy Joan Baez soundtrack....

Valley Forge is number 12 on my favorite spaceship list for almost the same reasons as Cygnus. This movie makes me cry every time I see it. Trumbull and Dykstra did amazing SFX in the time before CGI.

Agreed. Love that style of vessel.
FWIW, the DISCOVERY (2001, 2010) has always been in the #1 spot for me.
