The Louisiana Star is a liner based on an American sternwheeler. It’s the flagship of the Rainer Abicht Elbreederei and is used for harbor tours in Hamburg. The ship was built by Deutsche Binnenwerften GmbH, Tangermünde and was christened by Linda Lynch, wife of the Consulate General of the United States of America, on 06. May 1999. The Louisiana Star is registered for minimum 500 passengers and the passenger facility distributed on three decks: main deck with stage, dance floor and buffet,
the upper salon with buffet and bar and the upper deck. The ship is powered by two Caterpillar marine Diesel engines, which drive with 384 kW each two Schottel thruster propellers of type SRP 200. The paddle wheel installed in the stern is just for the look.
