Description
EDIT: Okay DON'T LAUGH AT MY ENGLISH I'VE GOTTEN BETTER THIS IS FROM 2009These are the basics of how I shade.
Have fun! I'd love to see what you created with the help of this tutorial.
I used Photoshop CS4 to draw. But this method works on any program that has layers that you can set to multiply mode.
Like openCanvas, Sai, Gimp...
In Photoshop and OC, the Layer modes can be changed here:

The brush I used is this one:

woah, you can't flip out at her about your "DArama" s***. You're the one who started it. And get over yourself. "Your work has absolutely no comparison to mine"... a large majority of people on this website can say the same to you. You won't get anywhere in life if you you don't get over your self admiring.

you know you can easily get banned for messing on old conversations that doesn't include yourself in anyway just your will of kiss ass? Plus you're minor age so be carefull will ya?

Lmfao kiss ass? I don't even know her.But what I do know is that I don't like people who are outright rude to other people. And you can get banned for writing unnecessarily rude comments on an artists work. And awwh you took the time to my page out? Im flattered and about the minor thing, I'm a lot more mature than you. Instead of being a complete jerk to her you could have given constructive criticism. Then I wouldn't have commented.

mature? xDDD funny lil girl, goodbye I dont have anything to discuss with you and i really think it's rude commenting on someother's page if it's not directed to that person so either you note me notes i wont read because well, you're just a bored teen on recess, or just drop it

please will you just stop adding more comment and comments that don't add nothing, lil tip for your shriked brain, in our country, and several others too, we do have recess, so shush.

ugh look. I'm stopping this now before this turns into an argument and I start running my mouth and get MYSELF banned. Next time you comment on an artists work, leave constructive criticism. And next time I see an argument that is over I will leave it alone. There. No "DArama" or whatever it is called.

Temper, temper. I was just explaining myself in a completely normal, serious manner. o.O
I was just saying that this tutorial is not up do date anymore and I didn't know better at the time.
I wasn't drama-ing here.

Das ist wundervoll, danke. *_*
XD

I love your shading method, it's very effective - and far less time consuming to what I used to use in the first instances. I can still remember how happy I was when I discovered dodge and burn tools, let alone multiply layers! Ah, memories. Haha Thank you for this!

this probably doesn't,but could this work in Ms paint?
π: 0 β©: 1
Feyrah In reply to the-moons-howl [2010-11-09 12:34:57 +0000 UTC]
No, since ms paint does not have layers. In paint you need to shade normally - but there are many different ways of doing that. :] [link] here are some tutorials that might help.
