Description
Template provided by fox-orian@deviantart. Too lazy to remember how to do this shortcut thing on here. Brain hurts enough as it is.Anyhoo. I figured I'd post something brain dead simple on deviantart after a zillion bazillion years. It was a lot fun taking a trip down into the subconscious to find these gems! And not so fun with those unwanted memories.
Since I had way too many influences material to work with, I decided to chop them down into 2 categories. Pre-internet days and post-internet days. This one is solely based on the former. By that I mean, before we even had the internet in our household which is sometime after 2000-1, I think. That meant going to libraries and bookstores to find art. Thank Zeus the internet happened. You kids are so spoiled and lucky these days. "Why I remember back in my day..."
Ahem, so who's who? or does anyone care? =O
1) Broverines, Eric Vedder and Omar Dogan! RL friends doing RL drawing sessions together. Good times.
2) Looney Tunes: Can't beat these guys. They're timeless classics. Pretty impressive stuff for the era they lived in.
3) Nature Documentaries: Nothing like watching super slow motion videos of a pride of lionesses lounging onto a panicking wildebeest and witnessing the gory aftermath to get your juices flowing. Edutainment? This is the real deal. Original characters, backgrounds, colours, diversity, it all started here. Flawless perfection.
4) 1980s cartoons, and truckloads of toys that followed that would make the average hoarder weep for more space.
5) Earthworm Jim: Mostly for the art, and the games. Wasn't so big on the cartoon part.
6) Monty Python: Good ol' Monty. What can I say? Subversive humour at its finest. Added years to my life from laughing too hard.
7) Frazetta: Fantasy illustration owes a lot to this legend. R.I.P.
8) Calvin & Hobbes: It's still hard to believe it's over.
9) Timmies! Yum, oh how I love thee. Let me count all the ways. Not just timmies, but coffee in general. Been drinking it since I was tall enough to reach over the counter to pour myself one. How else can we draw otherwise? D=
10) Brom: Another legend. Did a few books and disappears. Droolage.
11) Ren & Stimpy: More hilarity adding years to my life.
12) Godzilla. Spawned the love of all things Monsters.
13) Spitting Image: Caricature puppets! Still got some of the "fly a jumbo jet..." song stuck in my head.
14) MarioKart 64: Ah countless hours immersed into this masterpiece. No other game can rival it for us. Nintendo was all about FUN over graphics.
15) Brian Froud: I still remember paying a hefty late charge for these library books. One of the earliest books that inspired bro and I 24/7.
Phew....I kinda feel sick from all the ass kissery.
