GIMP Satin Script — Description
May 29, 2010: Modified the script so that if there's a selection active, the satin will only fill the selected area. Please delete the previous satin script prior to installing this new version.

This GIMP script will create a satin texture based on the steps found in my tutorial here: fence-post.deviantart.com/art/…

On an open image, just go to Filters > Render > Satin... and a window will appear allowing you to choose the color, the color depth, and color lightness. If you just leave the defaults, it will be the same "dark pink" color as described in the tutorial.

Click on the Download link to get the text file and save it to your GIMP scripts folder (ie....Crogram FilesGIMP-2.Xsharegimp2.0scripts) and then go to Xtns > Script-Fu > Refresh Scripts.
