Odette is outspoken, mischievous, and is never afraid to stir the pot. She lives for the drama and has an uncanny ability to always know the latest gossip. Despite her catty, and hedonistic outward disposition Odette is also incredibly smart and tactical. She’s cunning and likes to pull the strings and watch the dominos fall. She can be self centered and a little vapid but she’s also deeply generous. She’s known for her philanthropy and for hosting charity events and she sponsors an arts academy in the capital. Odette is slow to trust and even slower to love. Most of the people she’s had in her life have betrayed her or left. Her closest ally has always been her older brother, Silas. She’s an integral part of his faction and one of his biggest supporters.
History:
Odette always knew she was made as a backup, her mother was not shy about reminding her that she existed to support her brother and rebuild the Von Drakes. She knew all this yet she never resented her brother, just her parents. She spent her childhood rebelling in any way she could, only to be punished halfheartedly and acting out again, repeating the cycle. When she was fourteen, Silas was fifteen and Cecelia was twelve, the two of them convinced Silas to join them in going undercover. They wanted to experience the annual refounding festival for themselves instead of presiding over it as they had before. At some point during the day Silas wandered off and when he came back he was like a lovesick puppy. The girls teased their brother good naturedly for it. Eventually the two of them were introduced to their brother’s paramour. A woman named Kiara as well as her younger sister Estelle. For all the teasing she gave Silas for falling quickly, Odette found herself similarly enamoured with Estelle, though she kept it mostly to herself. In her late teens Odette took a new approach to gaining influence. She would never be free of her family’s shadow so instead she embraced the power and influence that came with it. Odette leapt headfirst into the upper echelons of society and began to pull the strings to serve her own purpose. With her beauty and uncanny ability to make just about anyone believe her ideas are their own. It didn’t take long for her to have the upper crust of Drake wrapped around her little finger. Ironically, Odette becoming so influential and powerful in spite of them is what finally made her parents approve of her and grant her autonomy.
Around the same time, Silas and Kiara broke up. It was sudden and he wouldn’t explain what had happened. Silas retreated into himself and Odette found herself cut off from both Kiara and Estelle. She and Cecelia were left wondering as to what could have happened to get between them, but before the two of them could try for answers Cecelia was killed. During that year’s refounding festival Cecelia was shot through the neck very publically. Silas and Odette chased the killer down but the assassin killed themself before Odette and Silas could figure out a motive. That marked a change in both of them. They both took their political duties more seriously and worked to build their public reputations. When she turned twenty one Odette took over the southern duchy of drake, leaving the title of princess behind to become the grand Duchess. Leader of the southern quarter of drake, an area known for its trade and arts. Under her watchful eye the south has flourished and she’s quickly made herself instrumental to the nation as a whole.

Odette is fascinated and endeared by her little niece. She is genuinely hurt that Silas didn’t trust her enough to tell her about Luri but she does understand the reasoning behind his choice. Though understanding didn’t make it hurt less. She’s taken to spoiling Luri and undermining Silas’ authority by giving Luri treats when his back is turned, and telling her embarrassing stories of Silas’ youth as payback. She’s keeping a close eye on her mother and father during this time. Neither of them have reacted as expected and it concerns her.
