The Ribeiroia — Description
On April 18, 1984, police of the North Dakota town, Pinesville, were sent to the residence of Frank and Nicole Tornsum after receiving a call from concerned neighbors. A call came in at 11:46pm from a neighbor who claimed to hear a large amount of commotion coming from the woods near his neighbors house. Both of these residencies were outside of the town limits and were located in the surrounding forest. The houses in that area are normally spaced apart, with the trees and vegetation obscuring the view of other houses. The neighbor calling could not see what was going on at the house, but he claimed that he heard sounds that "sounds like a tree fell on the house." Police that went to investigate found the residence of the Tornsum's utterly demolished, with no trace of either of them. "It looked like the house exploded," stated one anonymous officer, "except there was no fire or smoke." Searching of the rubble and the surrounding woods failed to turn up the bodies of the couple. There has not been a confirmation on what caused the destruction of the house and disappearance of the Torsums.

Another call came in to the sheriff's office during the investigation that night. The call came from Rebacca Horran, another resident that lived on the outskirts of town. This call was not about the Tornsums' house, but instead about the sighting of some creature in her backyard. The event occurred at about 12:20pm, when Ms. Horran heard her dog barking furiously at something in the backyard. Scared that it might be a bear or animal that could harm her dog, she grabbed her rifle and went outside. When she went to investigate, she claimed she saw some "creature" in the woods behind her house. She described the beast as "tall as my house, with more arms then an octopus. It was as black as coal and had glowing yellow eyes...When I shined my flashlight on its face, it had something black and shiny coming out of its eyes." The creature was froze and stared at Ms. Horran for a few moments, before bounding off into the darkness of the forest. The creature " barreled through the trees, its arms clawing and flailing as it moved. It moved so fast, it was almost a blur." Further investigations have turned up and large path of broken and scarred trees, but no other evidence have emerged concerning the being.
