Description

Karcitr's hatred of the Church is well known, the destruction of the golden faith the purpose of his mad quest. The Church and its pontiffs robbed his people, crushed them down to these last sad few and forced them to forever hide in shame. On top of that, they hoard the remains of their ancient champion, denying her the proper rites of her people. Karcitr would see the holy city burn and his idol returned to her rightful home. His people would be forever free of this golden terror, and they may grow and prosper. But, of course, many question on how he could do such a thing. One man against the entire Church? Assaulting the holy city? When even the dragons failed to topple it? It is suicide, pure madness. Karcitr is truly crazy if he thinks he could ever do such a thing alone. But then again, he isn't alone, is he?

Karcitr knows well the magnitude of his task, how there are countless foes in the way of his goal. A champion of the Rhizakardi, he could certainly cut down many, but he is not invincible or flawless. Sooner or later, the sheer numbers would overwhelm him, the daunting task crushing him beneath its incredible weight. So that was why he turned to those experiments, tested the limits of the Rhizin and those who can be transformed. If his people won't fight, he will need other allies. Power, skill and knowledge at his side, and he knew just where to get it. His enemies are powerful and many, thus plenty of warriors to join his arsenal.

To achieve the strength to breach the holy city, Karcitr has committed himself to hunting down skilled warriors and powerful souls. Those with great talent and strength, the likes of generals, weavers and heroes. Any who show promise and would make for a mighty ally, Karcitr will come to "convince" them to join his side. And by that he hunts them down and attacks, looking to best them in combat. Those who are defeated by him will not be killed, instead sealed in Amber and whisked away to some hidden lair. There they can be slowly tortured and tormented until they break, their wills destroyed so that he may claim it. Force them to become a Rhizin, and then add them to his collection. Every trapped essence carries with it knowledge, skill and power, all of which he takes for himself. For those truly powerful in battle, they get the honor of fighting with him, joining his infernal arsenal.

The mighty souls he defeats will be transformed into powerful weapons, typically in the shape of the very blade they once wielded. He wants their skill and might, and by turning them into their very own tormented weapon, he gets that. These huge abominations now serve him, fighting with the very same grace and strength they had in life. With a snap of his fingers, he can call forth a huge blade that holds an expert swordsman, and with it in hand he can perform the very same moves as they. With their size and weight, each weapon strikes hard and true, their tainted ire adding to their cruel bite. And when he is done swinging them about, he throws them at another foe to let them fight on their own. It is both an arsenal and army at his command, and it grows with every stolen soul. He aims to fill out his collection, to get a wide variety of weapons at his command. Though, it is noticed that even amongst his current lineup, he has no tortured spear. Karcitr has been seen hunting down warriors trained in spears, yet they do not get turned into one. Word is that Karcitr believes that that weapon is sacred and does not belong to him, nor does it belong to outsiders. There was only one woman who was the best with it, the only one to have the honor to bear it. Any outsiders wielding one are a mockery, a pathetic shadow that insults her legacy! Thus, he hunts these people down to kill them, or just add their souls to other creations.

There is no telling how many Karcitr claimed before people grew wise to his efforts, when even the embattled factions realized something was wrong. Warriors, weavers and leaders were vanishing, and sightings of this strange hunter were spreading. The Church soon realized there was some saboteur out there that was taking out their prized fighters, and that had to stop. A trap would be set, taking a proud member of the Golden Guard and sending them off towards the deep woods. Quite a few attacks had been in that area, so it seemed like a good place. Two platoons would also be sent out to accompany them, though they would hang back as the bait marched on. They would position themselves around the planned battleground, hiding until the hunter arrived. When this annoying warrior showed up, they would reveal themselves and overwhelm him. Kill him and forever be free of this annoyance. The trap would be set and the golden warriors would wait. The illusion of a scouting camp would be the draw, the guard and a meager amount of soldiers supposedly here to scope out the deep woods. It would only take a few days of patience for their target to arrive.

Karcitr would suddenly appear one day, dropping from the sky wielding a huge axe. The Golden Guard gave the command, and the hiding soldiers revealed themselves. The trap was sprung and reinforcements were here. Yet Karcitr would look at these charging men and laugh, even when it looked like one versus a hundred. He didn't try to run, he merely tilted his head back and let out a whistle. The soldiers would stop as the sound of screaming was heard in the heavens. Eyes would turn upward to witness some horrible beast fly overhead. Survivors said it was like a massive vulture, yet it was not made of feather and flesh, but of wood and Amber. They also said it looked like it had two heads, though one was clearly not avian. Everyone assumed it would swoop down to join the fight, yet it did not. It simply soared up high, circling the battlefield. And then "pieces" of it came off, and began to fall towards the earth. The stunned soldiers realized too late what they were. Over a dozen huge weapons rained down onto their heads, crushing and cleaving warriors as they made impact. And then with the snap of a finger, they pulled themselves from the split ground and began to fight. The trap was sprung and reinforcements were here.

Few made it from this battle alive, Karcitr and his arsenal carving through their ranks. They would tell of how the weapons fought on their own, huge swords cleaving through men, terrible hammers crushing shield and skull. It had turned to pure chaos, the golden forces unsure what to do, how to defeat such living weapons. And in the midst of it all was Karcitr, laughing and killing in the frenzy. Attempts to swarm him failed, as his arsenal was quick to cut off attackers and force their hand. Even those who faced him in combat didn't stand a chance. The hunter's fighting style was too erratic, too nimble. His years in the deep woods gave him incredible agility, creating an acrobatic opponent who leapt, spun and dashed about the field. Even his weapons aided in this movement, with him using them like walls, barriers and platforms, or using their momentum to drag him around at high speeds. In the chaos, he would summon a random weapon to his hand and use the huge tool to slaughter a few men before throwing it away and resuming his usual tactics. Thus the soldiers were faced against an opponent with an ever changing arsenal, who had no blind spots and could kill you at any range. Even when his slaves were busy in combat, he killed with ease bare handed. Amber claws gutted his opponents, horrid ire spells seared through flesh and inhuman strength let him toss men about like dolls. But though he tore through the attacking soldiers, Karcitr was not here for simple slaughter. His path of bloodshed was aimed in one direction: towards the Golden Guard.

As the soldiers' numbers plummeted, Karcitr's attention turned towards his target. The Golden Guard stood ready to fight, and the hunter was eager to take on the challenge. The two quickly clashed and the duel began. Surviving warriors tried to aid their ally, but found a deadly arena forming. A few of Karcitr's weapons began to spin around the two warriors, creating a perimeter of whirling blades. Any who tried to get through were shredded, and any projectiles launched into it were blocked by the churning cyclone. No one could get in or out. They could only catch glimpses between the tortured souls, seeing Karcitr and the Golden Guard trade blows. But Karcitr would not fall. His own weapons and skill bested the golden warrior, crippling him by forcing his back into the deadly barrier. And before he could even hit the ground, the Amber claimed him. Karcitr took his prize, and beckoned for his weapons. In an instant, they ceased in their slaughter and came to his side. One more whistle, and the flying weapons platform in the sky swooped low. Karcitr, his weapons and his prisoner shot up and vanished into the shadow of the terrible bird. The survivors watched as it flew off, no doubt carrying their Golden Guard to a most terrible fate. It was on that day that the true might of Karcitr was known, and that killing him would not be easy.

More attempts have been made to down the hunter, but his strength has become too great and the war too heated. Factions cannot waste men on a quest against a single vicious soul. Even then, the hunter tends to come to them, sniffing out promising prey to steal. The armies and their heroes do their best to fend him off, and some do succeed. But not for long. Karcitr will retreat, but that only means their name on the list of victims has been pushed back. They are not safe, as he will return once he has gotten stronger. Once he has gotten more weapons and souls. He preys upon this war and these battered factions, seeing his chance for victory amongst the chaos. He does not need to knock down the walls of the holy city himself, he can let the likes of the Academy do that. And when these tired forces continue to weaken themselves, Karcitr will swoop in to finish them off. Some wonder if that day will come. When the people of the holy city will see the flames upon the horizon, and an army of blades hanging above their heads.
