Description
It is well known the power that is found within the fluids, the blessed energeiai that gives rise to magic and wonders. While the golden Ichor and its Humors are worshiped for these incredible abilities, one must remember that they are not the only bearers of this power. For it is found not only in other fluids, but within all things. In flesh. In bone. And in a world born from countless corpses of ancient beasts, divine gods and celestial beings, there is indeed magic everywhere. Its abilities may vary, its strength or presence perhaps diluted, but with the right ways, one may be able to tap into it. Learn to call upon the world around and within you, and create wonders.
The elementals that emerge from the Humors and fluids show how the environment itself can birth life. The liquids that were once found within bodies, a soil made from ancient crumbled flesh. These are the simple materials that can be used by special magic and talented minds, drawing upon the faint energeiai within. A prime example of this are the "Enamel Summons," a toothy familiar that can be summoned from the very earth itself. The process calls for a mighty fang, which is etched and infused with energeiai. Then speak the right words and plunge the sharp tooth into the soil, then stand back to see your harvest grow.
The planted tooth will pull from the soil and bone shards around it, condensing it all to create a crude body. No fancy bone work is needed, no veins of Black Bile are required. It is a being that is born from the ground, a razor sharp warrior that serves and fights for its master. Enamel Summons are simple summons, with their toothy bodies and fang covered arms used to fight and slice. Their intelligence is quite low, but often smarts aren't needed. They are simply portable soldiers or guards that can be grown in a pinch, a legion in your pocket for when trouble comes around. While the creation of their tooth calls for some talent and ties to magic, the use of said fang can be done by all. As long as you know the right words and have the teeth, any fellow can sow an Enamel Summon.
In the far past, Enamel Summons and other creations like them were used by traveling weavers or self proclaimed magicians. They were entities that wowed the ignorant masses and proved the might of such strangers, for from their hand grew forth life and soldiers! And when foes would challenge them or seek to rob them, a handful of teeth sprouted guards to shred the fools. Eventually, though, the parlor trick would lose its luster, as more wonders were learned about the Humors and their energeiai. Far greater spells, but also much better understanding about all of it. However, their use as spontaneous fighters still remain. Travelers of the wilds or war torn lands that cannot afford a regiment of guards or a protected caravan may get their hands on a few of these teeth, to be used when trouble arises. If things get more dire than a simple dagger or crossbow can handle, then they may reach for these enchanted fangs and call for aid.
There are obvious strengths to having an instant soldier at your side, one that can be carried in the pocket, doesn't need food and doesn't question orders. However, these toothy men are not flawless substitutes to the likes of bone-bile constructs or actual guards. Though summoned within moments, their soil born form is not permanent. Eventually, the energeiai within the tooth will sputter out, and the entity will collapse into a pile of tooth and dirt. Enamel Summons have a lifespan measured in hours, which typically is enough to fight off threats. But they cannot hang around forever after the job is done, as its takes energeiai for them to maintain their forms. Damage in battle can also hasten their demise, as destruction of their head tooth can cause the whole thing to fall apart. But only a fool would think an Enamel Summon is a soldier that can partake in a war and fight forever, as most are aware of their limitations. As it has been said, they are simple and quick summons for when things grow sour. A fighter and fodder to fend off bandits or distract foes while one flees or takes a cheap shot. Whatever is necessary for survival...
