Description
Summoned by the agonizing tune of the Cantatio Daemonum, Contraltus is one of the four Voices that emerge from the twisted music box. The Voices come before those who open (or break) the infernal device, and offer to grant them a single wish. This offer is good for a wish of any kind, as they have no rules or restraints for the summoner's desires. When the wish is made, the Voices will begin to sing. What comes forth from their throats is a twisted song of desire and want, a horrid tune that bends and warps reality itself. When their singing comes to an end, the summoner will find themselves in a world that has their wish granted, though not always in the way they imagine. The Voices tend to find loopholes and errors in the words of the summoner, and will happily twist their desire into something cruel. Those who use the Cantatio Daemonum should be wary on how they word their wish, lest they wind up in a torturous new reality. Though the Voices are cruel, mocking beasts, not many survive long enough to spread the tale, and even then, such words of warning mean little compared to the temptation of a single, unbound wish.Contraltus is the countertenor of the quartet, his voice joining with the others to warp reality. Not only does his song have twisted effects, but the words that pour from his mouths are also imbued with power. Whenever Contraltus appears with the other Voices, he is constantly babbling nonsense to himself. This gibberish is kept at a whisper whenever Cantere is speaking, or the Voices are waiting for the summoner's response. In times when fools would defy the Voices, Contraltus will crank up the volume and turn the endless stream of nonsense towards them. When he aims his two trunks at foes, the gibberish he spews out will flood their minds. The ridiculous words and nonsensical phrases will overpower all brain function, causing victims to fall into spasms and seizures. As long as he is focused on a target, they will be trapped in this twitching state until he chooses to let them go. With this, Contraltus is often the one who hunts down fleeing victims or those chosen to be executed by the summoner. No matter how fast or far they run, he shall hunt them down and incapacitate them with his babble. All he has to do then is keep them trapped until Oktavondo arrives and finishes them off.
Though his upper limbs look like wings, they seem to act more like fins. Contraltus does not fly through the air like a bird, but rather floats through it as if it was liquid. He does not flap these appendages to keep himself afloat, he just seems to hang in the air with little effort. Often these fins just billow and pulse, as if moved by some unseen tide.
