"Anime hair colouring tutorial" was something I typed into google so many times when I was even more noob with digital illustration than I am now! (●o’∪`o)ノ―♪`*.+ Though I believe that simply referencing everything from real life will teach all newcomers the secrets of colouring, anime or otherwise, tutorials like this can be very inspiring and motivating. it's a layer mode! usually layers are normal, but depending on your art program you can change them to something like "multiply" or "screen" or, in this case, "overlay" ^^

Whatever you put on that layer (colour, texture etc) in overlay mode will be added to your drawing underneath but it will pick out certain shadows and highlights of the drawing and brighten/saturate them. It's best to try it yourself and see 💗💟💙
