Description I have compiled some tips and tricks to drawing hands below; I posted this on my Instagram elizdangerlowe and got a lot of good feedback, so I thought I would post it here too!

So here you have it- some drawing tips and anatomy hints! (Thank you, high school anatomy class)

There is a space between the base of each finger
.
The lines on the back of hands (ex- Mickey Mouse gloves) are tendons, not bones, and they appear at different angles than the metacarpals
.
Every finger except for the thumb is made up of three bones, not including metacarpals
.
Distal phalanges taper at the end, but there is also more flesh there
.
The base of each fingernail begins about halfway through the distal phalanx
.
There is a mound of flesh/muscle on the pinky side (smaller) and the thumb side (bigger) of the palm
.
Hands are drawn better if you focus on drawing sharp lines instead of circles (ex- knuckles are diamond shaped)
.
Real life observations make for the best learning tools. No shame in using reference pictures!
