Perhaps the clinic series held at the HARPG Expo will be of service! Rules & General Information Entering a clinic:Art must be made specifically for the clinic. 100% photo backgrounds are not allowed. Partial stock use is fine with proper credit. Textures allowed. Credit all stock providers, and references. If no reference was used, then please state so. Please ask the original artist before featuring someone else's horses and characters. A simple note will do.Entries will not be judged - they are for participation, bonus points, and story purposes. Entrants are not required to show the clinician in their art if they do not wish to. Artists may enter as many clinics as they like, with up to two horses per clinic. Event organizers can participate. Collabs are allowed! Have fun!Hosting a clinic:Clinicians are not required to submit art. Highly appreciated though! Ideally, each clinic should be different from other clinics. Clinicians may request a new location for their clinic, as long as there are no conflicts with show classes.Clinicians may host the same clinic as last year if they'd like. Using poles, cavaletties, and grid work, Lucas will guide riders to slowing down their horses and regaining control.Entry information/requirements: Helmets, correct tack, and leg protection required. No harsh bits or double bridles.Additional benefits: This clinic will help with horses who rush fences or take off on landing by helping the rider become more organized, balanced, and confident. Tools learned include how to apply pressure without damaging a horse's nose, types of bitless tack, riding with a neck rope, and a Q and A with Charlie. Demonstrations provided by the bitless-only Yasaeng Warmblood, Saltwater Selkie.Entry information/requirements: Helmets required. Any clothes are allowed, so feel free to wear your general riding clothes. No non-riding footwear. All horses MUST have some sort of bitless bridle, or neck rope. Any saddle is appropriate (English or Western) and leg wraps are allowed. Hideki Matsuka, head trainer at Kasai Equestrian, has been working with young and untouched horses since his early teenagers, his husband, event rider Samuel Matsuka has been working alongside him for the past five years, competing in the Whimsical Wonders' Mustang Makeover in 2019 with KRC Divine Comedy.During the clinic, participants will be able to view a demonstration of the first step of every relationship between horse and rider 'Gaining Trust'. Hideki and Samuel will each be working with a wild-caught mustang. Rogue and Joker have had minimal human contact, and have been brought as demonstration horses for the day.After the demonstration, participants will also have the opportunity to test out their skills with Rogue and Joker. They will, with Samuel and Hideki's guidance, master getting the mustangs to accept their touch, moving eventually onto haltering.An hour has been set aside after this initial phase of the clinic, for participants to ask questions and advice for their own young or untouched horses, as well as opportunity for them to bring along their own young horse [In the interest of safety, we ask that this horse is halter broken and used to human touch]. The aim of this will be to further your relationship with your young horse, or work on any particular vices they have presented, dependent on where they are at in their early education.Intro: HEREEntry information/requirements: Whilst Joker and Rogue are unhandled, both horses have been living at Kasai for over a year, and are used to humans. Both have also begun their work with halters, however, in the interest of keeping all participants safe, Samuel and Hideki ask that everyone taking part must be over 18. Though younger riders and owners are very welcome to come along and watch.All entries are welcome, whether this is your rider watching the demonstration, working with Rogue or Joker, or with their own young horse at the end of the clinic.Additional benefits: All participants will receive a certificate, and each young horse brought along will receive a rosette, and a bag of treats.
