Solas has always been very nuturing to the pokemon around him, afraid they'll end up unloved he can be very patient with pokemon even if they tend to be aggressive. He's so nuturing to pokemon he can come off very defensive for them. Growing up with not the greatest brother or father, Solas tends to be a little cynical around others who act like they're his family.
It even leads him to be snoopy when over at someone's place, overthinking just what if they're truly aweful people trying to use him. He'll never show his fears with his tough exterior but if you get him to comfort you he will be very sincere in trying to help relate to your issues. Unfortunately he can be a little blunt too, very bold in his words you can almost mistkaen it for an insult when in reality he's trying to be down to earth with you. Solas is also a very artistic person with his hobby of tattooing and drawing, it helps him clear his mind if he gets too reckless with his actions, which is why he could never start battling until now.

Solas grew up in a poor district of Goldenrod City, in an old-fashioned house, with a family whose relationship was far from perfect, or even decent. His mother was a sweet and caring woman, but spent most of her time at work. His father never showed much affection or concern and would get into countless arguments with his wife or Solas’ older brother, Fivel. The violence and screaming matches led to Fivel being away from home more often than not, leaving Solas to spend time by himself. Solas’ only real companion was his father’s Charizard, who chose to follow the kid around and play with the neighbors’ Pokemon above the company of her actual trainer, cold and bitter towards his Pokemon and family all the same. He tried to bond with Solas on occasion, but it couldn’t make up for all the awful things he had to say about him.

Over time their relationship seemed to be improving until another angry outburst came to ruin it. This time, the Charizard had come to Solas’ rescue, knocking him away from his father, but that didn’t end there. The dragon flew out of the house with 10-year-old Solas in her grasp, carrying him upside down above the city. In her own rage she didn’t realize her claws had practically crushed Solas’ leg.

The last thing he saw before blacking out was a trained Braviary taking the Charizard down. His leg had to be amputated after the accident and nobody had spoken about the Charizard ever again. Fed up with her husband, Solas’ mother took her sons and moved to the Issho region with them, settling down in Dracmount City. Solas was 14 at the time and took some time to adjust to the new environment. However, Fivel wasn’t happy in the slightest. Arguments and begging to go back to Johto ended when he turned 18 and suddenly disappeared, only informing the family weeks later that he’d moved in with his friends. It wasn’t long until he started begging his mother for money and declined all of her offers to come back.

Eventually, that stopped too, as if Fivel had cut his family off for good. Solas moved to Union City at the age of 19, wanting to live his own independent life but stay in contact with his mom. Over the years he began to pick up interest in training Pokemon and began the search for his true calling.
