Marvel: Shadow King — Description
This guy always terrified me when I was a kid. He was just so creepy looking and the fact that he attacks you in your mind made him more creepy. His design hasn't really changed since the 90's and with good reason. I know he occasionally takes on a human form, but I didn't want to draw that. I wanted to go for the creepy monster form that you see in your nightmares. Although I did think his form in the Legion series was pretty freaky. I was trying to find ways to make him stand out from the other designs, but I couldn't come up with anything unique. I was thinking about giving him some Egyptian features like in the Wolverine and the X-men series, but thought that would be too distracting. It wasn't until I was playing Resident Evil 3 when I got the inspiration. I took a lot of designs from several different monsters from that series and combined them to create this abomination. He's the astral projecting night terror, it's the Shadow King!
