Second new painting I finished since last week Sunday. A painting of Iyo Railway no. 1 (the local iconic Botchan Ressha) pulling a passenger train across a bridge in a remote land in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan.ΒRelated content

Now isn't that some nice looking small train consist. Β Reading this painting's description gave me some curiosity about the Iyo Railway is, and it looks like that helps Shikoku Island from being too motorcar congested.

Thank you. I searched online for more archive images of the Iyo Railway in it's heyday. I chose this one because a train running across a bridge looks scenic.

*Wheeze* I thought the engine had an inner chassis and that's how they moved it, but nope, they lifted her OFF the rails and back onto them. That explains how Duncan and Douglas were lifted back on the rails, they were so light!

Only the original is on display at a park in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. There is a diesel driven replica in service today along with another replica no. 14. I rode on no. 1 five years ago during my study abroad in Japan. Still have the ticket till this day which cost like around $5.00 for one trip. Itβs still worth the experience to me as a rail fan.

Looks grand, shapes and shadows nicely done. And ink and watercolor has long been a favorite art style even though I still can't define why; in fact have long ago stopped trying to define why, and now just enjoy the style.
