Can't say I would personally recommend TLOU2 as it personally soured my experience of the first game. I played it on my old PSN account, and have a copy of the first game on PS4 now, but I just dunno if I want to play it ever again. Especially with how the sequel started and ended.

I'm very selective with the games that I play, because I have few free time. I liked the original game, but don't know if worth the time the second part or not

I'd recommend skipping it, maybe play Horizon: Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, Stray, Metal Hellsinger or some other game.

Honestly the last of us 2 has good gameplay, but it has a terrible story and terrible characters so I wouldn't recommend it unless you're only interested in the gameplay.

NaughtyDog's games always have great gameplay, But I hear that a lot of people thrashed a lot this game in particular, so far didn't know if it was for the gameplay, the history or both.

There's a lot of contributing factors to why the game's bad the story doesn't make any sense, the characters are mostly unlikable even the voice actress who voiced the character Abby hated her.
There was also the crunch time as well as the fact that Neil druckmann very much lied when the leaks came out, basically what happened is a disgruntled employee or someone leaked a lot of parts in the game and druckman, basically said, "no this isn't going to happen." But it did happen so he basically lied to the consumers, so people were rightly upset about that and did call him out on it and he responded by basically throwing a temper tantrum.
There are many more talented YouTubers who have gone into those facts a lot better than me so I suggest looking them up for a better understanding of the whole thing.

Some definitely have gripes with the gameplay, story, and characterizations on both its own merits and in comparison to the first game, which I can certainly understand if not totally agree with. But I feel like a lot of people also forget that much of the criticism hurled at this game upon release was a result of: 1) A crunch-cycle/worker-mistreatment scandal that caused many to look at Naughty Dog in a negative light and dismiss the game resulting from that environment by proxy regardless of its actual quality level, 2) The usual Proud Boy/hate-group suspects review-bombing any and every piece of media featuring strong/tough female characters, and 3) The core narrative of the game itself being a revenge story, and a rather unconventional one at that featuring the perspectives of two playable characters on opposite sides of a postapocalyptic conflict who do some pretty heinous shit in their respective quests (a notorious one being Ellie mutiliating a dog)--a type of story & structure that would be difficult for many average gamers/media consumers to accept in any circumstance, but especially at the time of its mid-2020 release when COVID lockdowns, BLM protests/unrest, and heightened tensions both in real life and on social media as a result of both these things and the 2020 US elections were all over the news and taking tolls on people's minds and hearts as was.

She is technically the antagonist of the story, but a very understandable and tragic one the more of her side of the campaign you play. Honestly, she, as with the game itself, is something you need to experience for yourself in order to get a full perspective on it, because the whole thing really is different things, and means different things--good and bad--to different people who've played though it. On that basis, I'd definitely play through the game at least once, just to see how it makes you think and feel. At any rate, you're guaranteed to be put through the emotional wringer and reflect upon yourself and the people you care about when all is said and done, which is more than can be said for many other games of any quality level.
