Practice Piece 01 — Description

I've wanted to improve my sculpting and painting skills especially. So I thought I'd make a series of quick practice pieces. I want to try to get them done in a reasonable time frame, though I've been very busy lately so they're taking a little longer than I was hoping. But that's nothing new.

I didn't want to use any licensed characters or any of my own. Instead make up a design for each figure, what ever design I think would be fun. For the first one, I settled on this cat girl. I wasn't sure where I wanted her to fall on the cat/girl spectrum, but I didn't want to just make a human with cat ears.

I'm relatively pleased with her. From the neck down I think she's more or less purrfect. Or at least good enough. Her head though, I think leaves some to be desired. Her cheeks and jaw look a little swollen, like she got stung by a bee or something. And her eyes are a little too set in, so I'll try to address that in the future.

I can't post a decent looking gif, so for now I'll try doing some half-baked collages. They're a little clearer. But I do have a turn-around video on Instagram if you want to see her spin.
