Brief:
this is the first Portrait I have done in a while, I'm not really a portrait person, just wanted to draw someone.
I used the front cover of 'Humble Pie' as a Reference. As you can see there are slight differences. I didn't include the pin strips, cannot do them, simple as. I slightly altered his expression and altered the colour of the shirt.
As you can see, the back ground wall is all beaten up and well worn. I used references to the Moon here, worked well I must say.
To say I'm not a portrait Artist, I am pleased with this.
Materials:
- Pencils: Derwent - H - B - F - 4H - 6H - 3B
- Colour: Derwent Studio - Spectrum Blue 3200
- Pen: Stabilo Fine Liner - Black
- Paper: Sea White of Brighton - A4
Creation Time:
- 15 Hours 45 Minutes (Roughly, over two days)

Gotta love that smooth shading. You say the background is last minute, but I find it very appropriate given the nature of his shows. It's as if he set a new recruit's contract on fire, haha.

I like his blue eyes that pull out the shirt. I personally love Gordon Ramsey, and this is so very realistic.

Although I'd like to say, the calming blue/cool tones fit him perfectly xD! (I mean, I'd expect you know, the fiery red/Hell's Kitchen etc.)

I love the selective use of the blue to make the image really pop!
The only advanced critique I really have is that his hair on the top right side (viewers right) should be sharpened up a bit and the hair on the left side should be a bit softer.
