Description
A desert planet orbits a close binary star system consisting of two sun-like stars. They are so close that they appear almost as one star in the planet’s sky.
The constantly changing gravitational forces in this system have caused most of the planets that formed to either fall into one of the suns, be thrown out of the system, or collide with each other.
My hypothetical planet is one of the few "survivors" on a now-stable orbit.
Strong winds have, over eons, rounded and smoothed the basalt columns in this area, leaving this stepped landscape.
