Description
Rob winds his way through the trees and bushes, keeping a careful eye out for humans that may have wandered into the area, or worse, a centaur hunting party he had heard about. He fills the satchel at his side with select herbs, spotting a sizable crop of mushrooms. He eagerly begins to pick out several choice fungi when he hears what appears to be a call for help. The call grew a little louder… And a bit desperate…
"Help!! Somebody!!"
Rob makes his way toward the voice, to a pit by a tree. Hanging in the tree looks to be a coin purse. Rob cautiously peeks in the pit to see a petite greensnake naga screaming to get out. Rob is mildly annoyed that someone who fall for the trap, but hollers down anyway.
Hold on...um...you!
He checks to see if any hunters are hiding out in ambush, and gets some stiff vines to use for rope, tossing one end in the pit.
Tie this around yourself...quietly...I'll pull you out...hurry...who knows who's waiting in these woods...
The Greensnake Naga nods quickly tieing it around his waist, "Thanks" he says quietly.
Rob waits until the greensnake is tightly fastened, wraps his own tail around the trunk of the tree for leverage, and starts hoisting.
Rob *whispering*: "Ommph...I know you can't be this heavy...carrying anything?"
He looks up as he hears voices, pulling faster.
The little naga chuckles. "Um..yeah"
He's holding his gear but once her gets up high enough he slinks his tail around a root and pulled himself out. "Hey thanks....do you hear that?"
Yeah...there's a bunch of centaurs who have been hunting in this area...I had hoped they had moved off...
Rob gives the other naga a once-over.
"You all right? Not injured? If you can move fast enough, I can get us out of here... We better get going; I hear centaurs like to make nice pets out of nagas..."
The other naga nods. "I'm fine let's get out of here. I definitely don't wish to be some horses pet!"
"Well then, this way..."
Rob secures his satchel and heads north speedily, stopping occasionally to wait for the other to catch up, grabbing the green snake by the arm as the voices of the hunting party get closer.
"Get into the trees...you can hide there...I'll try to distract them. If you can, keep heading north and I'll meet you at the rocky waterfall, got it?"
His new companion nods and moves quickly into the bushes almost blending in perfectly. He moves quietly off. The hooves beats could now be heard over the voices.
The centaurs gather around the pit
Centaur 1: The trap's been sprung. Where in the Hells is it?
Centaur 2: I told you, hollow out the inside so it can't climb out!
Centaur 1: Shut up...looks like it had help. See? Two serpent tracks...
Rob purposely breaks a stick and takes off in an eastern direction, moving as fast as his tail can take him. The green snake naga hears the shouts and the hunters give chase. He high tails it out of there.
Rob moves hastily through the forest, before coming to a lake he knows. Deep underneath it there is a cave entrance. He holds his breath, prays no one else is in the cave, and dives. The centaurs come to an abrupt halt at the pool, grumbling.
Centaur 1: Damnit! For all we know, the damn thing LIVES down there!
Centaur 2: What about the other one?
Centaur 1: Probably its mate. Most likely the mate was told to hide somewhere. Let's go check...I'd like to have the pair. *to two other centaurs* You and you. Go look for the mate. If you catch it, don't hurt it. *they race off* And you, come with me. We're gonna see if we can the larger one out of there. Need some bait or something...*they leave*
Rob hides for as long as he can, then slips out of the pool, zipping to the rendezvous point.
The new naga moved through the bushes, getting snagged here and there. Then he heard the hoof beats and froze curling into a little ball. He wasn't an old Naga, so he wasn't the bravest thing. They were getting close. Could they smell him, he dared not breathe.
The two centaurs search the area, one is hacking at bushes with machetes.
"Heeeeere snakey snakey snakey... We're not gonna hurt ya... Give ya a nice home...little pillow to curl up on..."
"Shuttup, Claude, and put that knife down! Boss said not to hurt it...we don't even know if it's still around here...and its mate too!"
One of the centaurs gets dangerously close to the area where he is hiding. He sees the knife reflecting in his eyes and he lets out a meep. He is frozen to the spot in fear.
The centaurs hears the sound, ripping away the bush the naga is hiding behind.
"Hey hello there, little one..."
The other centaur throws a net over him and hauls him out into the open area.
"Lookit that pretty tail! He'll fetch a good price..."
They look up as the sound of nearby rustling.
"Must be the boss with his mate...that big one and him together...we can breed 'em and sell fresh naga babies! You make a good mommy slave, won't ya little Greenie?"
The little naga squeaks in fright as hes found and caught trying to struggle, his tail pushing against the net. Shiny pure green scales. He really was a pretty naga. He looks up in fright at the Centaurs.
One centaur slaps the other one on the arm.
"Stop scaring it. It'll hurt itself and then it'll be useless as a bitch snake!"
The rustling gets louder.
"Boss! Over here! We got the little one!"
*A vine whips out, lassoing Claude's hind leg, jerking back to throw him off his feet, tumbling into the other centaur. Rob races out of the bushes, grabbing the net with the petite one still in it, hauling him up.
"It's the mate! Get it! Get off of me and get it!"
The green snake naga screams in surprise as he dragged off quickly, "They're chasing!!"
Rob: "Hold on!"
He coils his tail around the legs of both centaurs and whips it, sending them flying off their feet.
Claude: AAHH! My ARM!
The other centaur is unconscious. There is a loud sound of hoof beats from where Rob had appeared. He scoops the other one up in his arms and heads north at a dizzying speed.
The smaller Naga covers his eyes and holds on, still very much scared.
Rob can hear the voices fading behind them, feeling the other's shivering body in his arms, the smaller naga's heart beating fast against him. It is annoying and sweet at the same time. They crash through the woods without much care to who might be around, eventually reaching the waterfalls at the edge of Naga territory. Once across it, he sets the smaller naga down and cuts the net.
Are you crazy or something? You could have gotten us both killed, or sold as PETS! Is that what you want, being tied down as some Breeder Serpent --or GODS FORBID a freakin' CENTAUR--mounts and fucks you??
The other one whimpers and rolls out of the net, dusting himself off. He had lost a good amount of his things, but that was okay.
"Of course not!! But..I..okay I froze up I'm sorry...." He looked away.
Rob holds the bridge of his nose, shaking his head.
"Whatever, whatever... Anyway...my name's Rapscallion...Rob...what's yours?"
He smiles half-heartedly and puts out his hand.
The smaller Naga eye's him a little then takes his hand and shakes it.
"My names Saliv. Thanks for saving me"
"Not a problem...hate to see anyone become a Half-horsie's plaything..."
Rob starts to move off, then stops, looking at Saliv for a minute, hesitating, then turns back.
"You, um...wanna get a drink or bite or something? There's a sushi place by one of the rivers that has homemade sake..."
Saliv perks up.
"I'd like that!! Lead the way!! Oh wait...I lost all my money"
Rob rolls his eyes and sighs.
"Fine...I'll pay...but you owe me, and not just for dinner...and don't order anything expensive..."
Rob motions for Saliv to follow, slithering off toward the restaurant.
Saliv follows staying close. He eyed the other Naga. He was so much bigger than himself. He looked down at his tail, he was small.
Rob glances over his shoulder, catching Saliv eying him, but doesn't stop moving.
"Looking for something?"
Saliv is startled a little.
"N..no No. So what do you do for a living?"
"I get fresh supplies for the local herbal shops...I cook, and they sell some of my stuff along with the fresh spices..."
"...You?" He arches an eyebrow."
"I don't have a job."
He smiles.
"Why not? There's plenty of work to be had...that doesn't involve pits..."
"I never had a place to settle down and work."
He shrugs. "So I don't"
They come to a slope by the river, the restaurant is right at the dock, with a naga sitting on the edge of the dock with a fishing pole. He seems to know Rob, and waves. The place is modest, but convenient, with some roomy booths. Rob is obviously well known here, as a smiling waiter brings them some menus.
Waiter: "Hey Rob! The usual, rolls and sake?"
Rob nods, as the waiter sets down the menus.
Waiter: "Sure thing...I'll leave these here if you decide on anything else...got some new stuff coming in..."
The waiter smiles at Saliv, winking at Rob and clapping him on the shoulder, muttering 'nicely done'...the statement makes Rob redden all the way up to his ears.
