I turn my head as the tears splash down,And I blush to show the pain I feel.
You crease your forehead into that frown,
A hand reaching up to wipe my cheeks.
In the bitterness of the moment I sense
The awkwardness of being so close.
Yet at the touch of your hand I tense
And flutter like someone still in love.
You move to leave while saying goodbye;
I can feel your heart tearing from mine.
Through the wrenching I struggle in vain to try
To restrain my urge to hold you back.
A step back from me, your hands raised to stop,
But I'm crossing the distance to you.
From your hands bags swing and suddenly drop,
And for a moment I'm back in those arms.
Your lips never tasted so sweet before,
And your eyes never held such sorrow.
Tomorrow my heart may be heavy and sore,
But right now you're my world; you're my all.
