Description
It took me some time to really nail her looks. The biggest foundation according to the model sheets was the Allosaurus, but when I first saw her, she really leaned towards the Giganotosaurus from Dino Crisis.
What can I say ? I love Darcy here. She brought back some fucking respectability to the theropod game and I couldn't be happier.
No, seriously, the first 2 flicks before Jurassic World hit the theaters were JPIII (which I fucking loathe for reasons previously explained) and Jackson's King Kong (which is good for only 1 third of its running time and had the Vastatosaurus trio JOB FUCKING HARD to an overgrown Gorilla ! Who was bitten several times ! And was killed just by bullets ?! Fuck you !). So yeah, before the Indominus gave some teeth back to theropod fiction, we were in sad times, ladies and gents.
Then there is also my vast preference towards the JP novel & 2nd movie over the 1st one. And this made me realize why she gelled so well with my tastes; the Indominus is the Crichtoniest dinosaur we got on film despite being movie-original. She is literally a fusion of the book T.rex (for the bite, the size, curiosity and stubborness), the book raptors (do I even need to explain here ?) & the book Carnotaurus ( for the skin color & camouflage abilities.... though Indy uses it mostly to cool down rather than hunt...). And probably a crackhead honey badger for good measure.
Remember, the book dinosaurs do not seem like it at first but they later exhibit bodily traits proving their frankensteinesque nature. Seems odd, but I'll give the 1st JW movie full credit for giving us Book Wu on-screen & get closer to the original spirit of the book with Indy.
Another thing ? Rewatching them back to back, I don't find JW any dumber than JP1. Yeah, the escape is contrived but the mean-spirited pay-off is great and it is far less mushy and sugary... though Claire should have been torn to shreds by the end of it. The JW sequels ? Yeah fuck those. What were they thinking ?!
