Description The shocking news; I equally enjoy both Mignola and Del Toro iterations of our dear demon with the Red Right Hand. Sure the former is mellower and blasΓ© while the latter is acidic and tempermental but I feel these distinctions make them complementary and I enjoy different takes when there's actual goddamn effort behind them.

I finished reading Hellboy's whole comic storyline and it rules (barring "The Devil You Know". That's on "The Twelve" levels of awful and can suck cocks in hell...), so I suppose it deserves a proper poster eventually.
Do you know Ron Perlman played both versions ? Fantastic ain't it !

Both have quite different moods and tones but they work fantastically for their versions.

Yup sadly one got one ending too many ("The Devil You know" SUCKS BALLS ! Red's death in his own series was fucking epic & "In Hell" is the perfect closure. I don't care if Mignola had an ending he wanted to shove years ago but it just did not gel... AT ALL.) and the other did not get the ending he deserves (the one with the twins would've been PERFECT.)

So did I.

Yeah, this character seems to be written to be played/voiced by Ron Perlman.

Altough I admit, more recently I prefer the comic version.

Simply because Β the MCU and other media has turned so many heroes in sarcastic and/or ill-tempered people, so I enjoy the gruff yet friendly version more at the momet.

But wait!

Whatcha think about the 2019 movie version? Β ;)

True but to Del Toro's credit, his Hellboy gets fucking serious when the situation really calls for it. And Hellboy ALWAYS dismisses the big villains in a Harry Callahan/Jotaro manner...

Honestly, there are things I like and dislike about the 2019 flick, I will get to it eventually...

I think another thing I like about the comics are that due to the medium Hellboy gets more opportunities to interact in a friendly and laid back manner with more people...who are often hilariously non-chalant about talking to a big red half-demon XD

Of course most of these people are already Β aware of the supernatural but itΒ΄s still a nice change of pace from the usual "in the world that fears and rejects them..." angst.

Ron Perlman was born for the role. Also, is it bad that I like del Toro's version of Krauser better than the comics one? Cool cyborg ninja nazi with bladed tonfas is too damn cool.

Logical. Comics Kroenen is fairly unremarkable outside of his mask. In fact, Von Klempt steaks the show as the creepy Nazi abomination in the comics...

Can you do one of the original, Perlman and Harbour?

Might be a bit on the nose but I'll say it anyway. Hell yeah. :D

I had time earlier this year to read through a bunch of Hellboy comics (and B.P.R.D. comics) and have to agree that while both the comics and the Del Toro films are very different animals they are both very enjoyable. And I love that Del Toro just stubbornly kept insisting on casting Ron Perlman until the producers cave in, rather than use some big name actor.

Looking forward for that poster, and hopefully your thoughts of the comics.
