His dad had been sent to our plain to kill Tanley another demon that had left their clan after trying to take over the clan itself, while here his dad Herkmer fell in love with his mother one thing led to another and Devilin was born. Though their romance was forbidden and his father and mother they were killed, leaving Devilin too be raised by his aunt. she never knew that his father was a demon so she just tried to raise him best she could. He had always had signs of his demon half in the form of a voice but his powers didn’t fully manifest themselves till he turned 16, till then the voice was a faint nudging of negative thoughts and action

He had managed to hide all this from his Aunt who simply thought it was a case of acting out, he had walked home after skipping class on his 16th birthday when he started to feel weird and ducked down an ally way. His powers finally manifested in that alleyway and the demon managed to take hold of Devilin and Devilin would experience his first change into a demon wolf, a homeless man just happened to see everything and the wolf killed the poor man, Devilin just having to watch through the wolfs eyes. Devilin soon starts to understand that the “Voice” controled the wolf, Devilin didn't know what to think but he didn't like it killing. When he turned 18, out of fear of the wolf killing more humans, Devilin ran off to the woods of Canada to hide.
Eventually Tanley tracked Devilin down to try to maniupulate the boy, Tanley would begin to train Devilin in how to control the wolf and harness its powers which he did by the time he was 22.Tanley had led Devilin to clan where Devilin challenged the leader, the battle was intense as Devilin, much like his father, did not know how to give up during a fight. Devilin was barely able to stand when Tanley charged in and attacked the leader, the leader was easily able to subdue the older demon. The leader asked Devilin if this whole attack had been Tanley's idea, Devilin nodded and told the leader about his parents. The leader told Devilin to leave or die. Tanley was not so lucky, the leader decapitated him.
