Description Jimbo is a super talented artist and I have been working a few of his lines, and finally finished this one. I have seen a few versions of this colored and inked, but Venom is one of my all time Faves, so had to have a go at these great lines!

I loved the feel of this one...hope you do as well

Download for 300dpi *Please read my terms of use* Thanks!

Great job with the inks even better than the one I did on it. Like you I really like Venom as well. I just wish I had my tools that I had before I left for China to do the same work you are doing right now in inks. I had to switch to digital inks because I have limitations with the tools living in China.

Thanks man! Yours is a pretty cool version as well. I tried the digital route earlier on in my inking quest, but couldn't manage it. I really prefer to see a hard copy on my table! Have you looked into getting paper and pens shipped?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NewEraStudios In reply to devgear [2012-02-01 00:53:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I asked my father about that but it will cost him around $24USD to ship them here to China. I am not going to worry about it too much because I will be moving to America in a couple of months anyways so I can get those tools again when I get there. Thanks for the comment too because I can never tell if my work is good enough.

I wanted to ask how do you get the graininess, dirt or other clutter out your picture that scanner picks up when it scans your work? The reason I ask is that the scanner I am using always picks up a certain amount of graininess or dirt and I have to spend another hour or two hours cleaning my piece which is why I went the digital inks because I don't have to clean it.

devgear In reply to NewEraStudios [2012-02-02 06:13:03 +0000 UTC]

Firstly, I spend more time ensuring my blacks are solid than I used to. I work with photoshop after scanning at 600dpi. Use hue/saturation to remove most of the blue lines still showing. Adjust levels and do a bit of cleanup with brush tool wherever it may be spotty. Lately, I discovered the burn/dodge tool is great for cleaning up the muddy sections where I have tight bleeds and the grey from the blue lines hasn't cleared up. I think that has been the most valuable tool for cleaning things up.

NewEraStudios In reply to devgear [2012-02-02 06:52:43 +0000 UTC]

I think it probably also helps that you are using the right tools and larger paper. Do you use a 11x17 scanner or 8x10 scanner to scan your work? I have tried using some of these tools but I still get some graininess which frustrates me because I want clean lines just like yours. I think with bigger paper, better tools and bigger scanner I might get similar results but not exactly like yours. Love your work by the way.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

devgear In reply to NewEraStudios [2012-02-02 11:00:57 +0000 UTC]

It's a decent 8X10. 600dpi colour scan, I think a large scan gives you more room to work. When I import it into PS, I take my time to make sure the 2 halfs line up, and do want it to look as clean and pro as I can...that's just me. So I have gone out of my way experimenting with things to make it that way. Thanks!

NewEraStudios In reply to devgear [2012-02-02 22:55:27 +0000 UTC]

Ah I see. That would make sense but that file would be huge though to work with if it is at 600dpi. I think I should go back and try it with my inks again because I am not happy with all the graininess in the background. I think people would be happier if I had cleaner and more pro looking traditional inks over my digital ones. Thanks for the tip it helps a lot because I have been really scratching my head about how to get my traditional inks really top shape and I have hit a brick wall with it.
