Okay, I KNOW I'm gonna get shit for this, but I don't care.Okay. This is a touchy subject with me and also a very valid topic.
Cosplay has nothing to do with skin colour.
Cosplay is about dressing up and having fun as a particular cartoon/videogame/anime/whatever character.
Why should someone not be able to cosplay as a character because of their skin colour? Why should people look at someone weird because they don't match the same skin colour as the character?
Sorry, but 90% of fucking characters are made with pale skin. Whoopsie daisy, we're not all fucking pale.
I get tired of hearing that someone shouldn't be able to cosplay whatever character because they're black or spanish, or whatever race that isn't "white".
Well, you know what? FUCK YOU! Cos if THAT's the fucking case, white people shouldn't be able to cosplay as most of the anime characters out there. Wanna know why? because they're Asian.
So I don't wanna hear that shit. Fuck that.
I'm a Puerto Rican/Filipino mix and I am Tan. BUT I WILL STILL COSPLAY AS MARLUXIA, ZEXION, WHOMEVER THE FUCK I WANT TO AND CAN'T NO ONE STOP ME.

I've been in a situation where some random stranger made me cry the "dealer's room" because I was flatter than the character I was cosplaying...excuse me for not having overly huge breast on my small body I was born with...

I'm Filipino too and I've always been self conscious about my skin color when planning a cosplay...
like, "Shit, should I cosplay as Hatsune Miku...? ... Nah, she's too white."
Glad other people can relate to my problems... I've spent ours looking up anime / cartoon characters I could cosplay as but no one's really made a prolific "tan" or "brown" anime character before... Except for some characters from the "Avatar" or "Legend of Korra" series, but I don't think that's really considered anime...

This is an impopular opinion and maybe so much of yours will hate me for this but...
If you're talking about cosplay as a play, as a game, there's no rules! You put that cosplay in the con and you have a good time.
But, as a milk-pale-fucking-skin and lover of dark/tan skin characters, when I do cosplay for a contest or a photoshoot, something more professional and "serious", I must put a lot of dark make up at my skin and my face. Why? Because I want to be the most acurate to the character I love. And if I have the pale skin and the character not, I would make up for her/him.
I think that people who has tan or dark skin should do the same in a contest or a serious cosplay, I MEAN, THEY SHOULD! I'm not saying that they can't go of her/his favourite character because this character has a different color skin. But as a lot of cosplayers darken their skin for fit the costume, that would be right lighten the skin for that kind of characters.
Please, don't consider this as an ofense or an attack, but this is my opinion at this topic >_<

It's not offensive. If you're going for a photoshoot or competition is one thing, but I'm talking about for fun. Some people are so serious about it that they bash people who are doing this not for recognition or popularity. A simple 'I want to dress up as this character because (s)he is my favourite!' should not be looked down upon just because someone's skin colour doesn't match the cosplay.

Then, I'm agree with you, no one can say to someone "don't make fun dressing as your favourite character because you haven't his/her appareance". That's awfull and that kind of people deserves a kick in the face.

I'm a pale-ass girl (seriously; I really am) and I cosplay Iruka-sensei from Naruto... Well, if you watched Naruto you would know that Iruka-sensei is VERY tan. So I can relate.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from.
If you're doing it for modeling, then yes, it might be better if you match the character, but still, there is no reason people should get flamed or hated on for cosplaying if they don't match the character. You didn't choose to be born the colour you are and it's not your fault that most of the anime characters have fair skin. ; 3 ;

I really, really, REALLY love this stamp. I'm Ethiopian and I've been too nervous to cosplay some characters i'm really in to, like Prussia, America, Edward Elric, Daniel from Amnesia: the Dark Descent, ect. Since i'm so self conscious that someone would lose their shit because i'm not the right skin colour, I've always avoided cosplaying period, but then again I do have a Spain cosplay and I still get nervous to go out to another convention in it since I doubt many people recognized me other than 3-5 people.
But seeing that my friends are cheering me on and finding this stamp boosts up my self-esteem, and I thank you for making this ;w;
