Description
This is a small tribute to the genesis Sonic era. I admit, Im a sucker for the classic style.Couple things I want to note. First of all, Sonic look familiar? I made the lineart of this late last year but after losing interest in this picture for a while, I took half of what I had already done of Sonic and turned it into this [link] . With that said, a few things like the back light on him make more sense.
Secondly, I took inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy's stylish lighting (even though I've never played the game). I combined it with a more realistic type of shading to make an interesting effect. Also I knew I wanted to have a fantasy-like background but had no idea how to go about doing it but Im satisfied with the result.
Done in Photoshop CS2

the classic era is way better than the modern era the classic era has personality charm and beauty that the modern era lacks.

Reminds me way back when I owned a sega genesis and would be playing these games early on the weekend mornings. I love the classic genesis games a lot--obviously because they were a part of my childhood
Excellent job on the art here. Gotta love the array of colors mixed in to make this gem of an artwork stand out
