DR EGGMAN VS SHOCKWAVE (ARCHIE COMICS/IDW TRANSFORMERS)
CONNECTIONS:
Both are alternate comic book versions of villain scientist characters from famous franchises (Dr.Eggman from Sonic The Hedgehog and Shockwave from Transformers) but while this ones are actually "based" on other incarnations (Eggman/Robotnik being based on his SaTAM and Game Incarnations and Shockwave being of a the IDW interpretation of G1) it is noted that they have a much bigger role, bigger and threatening, being total psychopathic geniuses.
Both of them are part of a major antagonistic faction of their worlds, being from a high ranking on this ones (Eggman being the leader of the Eggman Empire and Shockwave being the lead scientist of the Decepticons), despite the alliances they had made this for them are less than dirt, they are only driven by their own ambitions and desire, to reshape their home worlds at his own ideals (Eggman didn't care for the people he allied themselves with, like the Acorn Kingdom who gave him a lot of power, not even his own family in Snively, only wanting to dominate Mobius and robotize it all, Shockwave while receiving resources from the Decepticons he doesn't care of the cause or their ideals, he doesn't want power but wants to rebuild Cybertron, with cold calculated Logic).
In the past they would be the students of very important intelectual figures of their races, members of high authority from the goverments of their worlds that had given them the knowledge they use today for evil (Dr. Eggman became apprentice of Nate Morgan, who would become Minister of Science on the Acorn Kingdom and Shockwave was a student of Jhiaxus who became Chief Theorical Strategist of Nova Prime)
Their own people would label them as conspirators and traitors of their worlds and as such they would been hunted down and tried to be given their punishments, sadly this would only prove in their favors into fulfilling their ambitions more (Eggman/Robotnik would be judged because of his experimentation on overlanders but later he would escape imprisonment and be found by the Acorn Kingdom while Shockwave was convicted due to the rebels he was sheltering in his academy but after his punishment his morals and emotions were gone) and then would been taken by the faction enemy of the people who they once served under (The Acorn Kingdom and The Decepticons)
They would also go through painful and horrendous body modifications, but this would not be any problem to them, in fact this would only twist their minds more and more, ending as a benefit more than a torture for them (Eggman turning himself into a complete cyborg by Robotization, managing to win against the Freedom Fighters in his world and Shockwave being subjected into "Shadowplay" having his whole body mutilated and changed, as stated before this would take away all his moral restraints and emotions)
Both of them would get themselves involved into time and space travels, this would only create more and more troubles for the heroes, why? Because this guys though that it would be good idea for them to take the place of an important figure, taking completely the roles of this persons (Robotnik died but he would later be replaced by Dr. Eggman, an Eggman from another world where he won against the Freedom Fighters, Shockwave ended up time traveling to the past, ending up in past Cybertron where he would kill Onyx Prime and take his place in history)
Remember when it was mentioned that they see others as a mean to an end and just use them to fulfill their objectives? Well, it's actually shown when they outright decided to betray the factions that they belonged in once, supporting them in their wars only in the surface but working in secret without them knowing, and finally ending up ennacting their master plans (Eggman working for the Acorn Kingdom and helping them against the Overlanders but it was just to disguise his true intentions, ending up overthrowing the Acorns and taking over Mobotropolis and its kingdom, meanwhile Shockwave worked for the Decepticons and their battle against the Autobots, but in reality he was working in the Regenesis Project in secret, ending up desserting from the Decepticons so he could put his plan into motion).
Despite being complete psychopaths and people with absolutely no moral grounds or ethics they would actually be sympathized and have compassions from the red and blue main hero of their worlds, this would actually show better when this characters suffered a complete emotional and mental breakdown in front of them (Eggman losing his mind after the constant defeats against Sonic, prompting the Hedgehog to worry about his long time nemesis, he even allowed him to live despite everything as he said to Monkey Khan, Shockwave would realize what he has become and remember his life before the Shadowplay, Optimus would try to call out for him and make him remember their friendship).
Sadly, this two genocidal scientist maniacs would still screw the heroes over, despite the fact that they had a whole mental breakdown and then had the odds against them they would still go back to their twisted ways, getting rid of the obstacles/people in front of them (Eggman despite having a whole mental breakdown and being overthrown he would end up overpowering Snively and taking his empire back while Shockwave despite his own breakdown and the deat at both Optimus and Megatron would end up going back to the past where he would meet Onyx... And kill him)
Also not only they would become very dreaded and ruthless warlords but also they would also rule over their planets in their own kingdoms, claiming one of the cities of their planet as their own (In Eggman's case he would become the new ruler of the Acorn Kingdom but also he would turn Mobotropolis into Robotropolis while in Shockwave's case, during hisntime as Onyx he would become a warlord, establishing his kingdom in the city of Kalis) also they would also end up trying to use the power of God like beings that are themed arouns Chaos to fulfill their goals, trying to harness their power (Enerjak in Eggman's case and Unicron in Shockwave's case).
At one point in their stories they would start to work on special projects with "Genesis" on their names, this projects consist in the use of special ancient gems (The Chaos Emeralds and the Ores) that hold inmense power over reality, the purpose of this projects? To remake their realities entirely so they can achieve their perfect dystopian worlds not caring about the damage to existence itself they could cause (In Eggman's case it would be the Genesis Wave/Super Genesis Wave to create a reality where he rules supreme and in Shockwave's case it would be the Regenesis Program to turn everything into a singularity to fuel Cybertron).

Honestly I'd prefer Game Eggman vs Lex Luthor if we really had to so we can save this for the Archie variant, definitely BFB imo
