DECIPHERS THUMBNAILS - HARD TO COPY PERFECTION — Description

METAL SONIC VS PERFECT CELL (SONIC THE HEDGEHOG/DRAGON BALL)
CONNECTIONS:

Both are artificial creations of two mad scientist with a affliction for turning organic beings into hardened metallic minions (Dr Eggman and Dr Gero). With said mad scientists wanting nothing more for the main protagonists of the stories to be dead due to a long-time rivalry between them (Sonic and Goku, Sonic due to thwarting Robotnik's Plans and Gero for Goku destroying most of the Red Ribbon Army)
Both are knowing for being made for the sole purpose of being better then other living organisms in their universe, as Metal Sonic was designed to be a flawless copy of Sonic in everyway. Whilst Cell was made with the cells of the Z Fighters, Frieza and King Cold, making himself believe he is the one perfect fighter in the universe.
With these purposes in mind, both have a massive superiority complex, believing themselves to be above the protagonists they were made to surpass and nothing more (Metal Sonic thinking of himself as the real Sonic, and if he isn't thinks himself as nothing more then a failure/Cell believing himself to be the very embodiment of perfection, and that no one not even Goku could surpass him in anything), with both of them matching the main protagonists in what they are known for (Sonic's Speed/Goku's martial arts training and combat)
Both would gain evolution-like transformations later down the line in their stories, with Metal Sonic rebelling against Eggman once he was transformed into his Neo form, and Cell absorbing Android 17 and 18 to gain his perfect form, these transformations have different resemblances compared to their previous incarnations too, with Neo Metal looking more battle hardened and Cell gaining a more humanoid and stabilized form once he reaches his max evolution
Both would also gain the abilities of several known techniques during the franchise, due to Metal Sonic having a copy ability and Cell having the DNA of all of the fighters Gero had managed to gather, with their most prominent abilities being some of the most popular and most used in the series (Chaos Control and Kamehamehas)
Their final prominent confrontation in their story arcs was when the main protagonists grouped up to face them (Sonic and his friends/The Z Fighters), and would eventually be overwhelmed due to a golden-like state (Gohan going SSJ2 against Cell/Sonic, Tails and Knuckles using the chaos emeralds to face Metal Overlord)
After their battle with said-golden protagonists, both would lose their most powerful states in the process, with Cell going back into his Semi-Perfect state after losing Android 18 and Metal Sonic reverting back to his original self after being defeated by Team Sonic
Despite their first defeat, both would come back stronger somehow and regain their previous form, with Cell surviving his self destruction and becoming "Super Perfect Cell" and Metal Sonic being rebuilt into his Neo form in the IDW comics, also going into his own Super Form in said comics afterwards due to the Master Emerald
This wasn't meant to last however, as yet again both would beaten down and defeated in the same forms, with Gohan finally managing to kill Cell fully, and Metal Sonic being defeated again in the IDW comics losing his Neo form again
Despite their defeats, both would have a long lasting effect on the series, with Cell's actions causing the death of Goku, and him wanting to stay dead for a while, and Metal Sonic's rebellious nature needing to be toned down by Eggman in order to not repeat the same mistake again
Both would also have similar copies made in their own images, but could never exceed the original in certain ways (Cell Max/Mecha Sonic and the other prototype Sonic robots in the franchise), the only difference was that the Mecha Sonic line was made before Metal Sonic, whilst Cell Max was made after
Funnily enough, both would also be involved around time travel, with Metal Sonic being introduced in Sonic CD, with the main theme of that game being around time and space, whilst Cell is a being from the future timeline, or atleast one of the many timelines where things go wrong
CONTRASTS:
Whilst Metal Sonic is loyal to Eggman after his eventual reprogramming in Sonic Heroes, Cell knows about Gero but does not exactly care for him as a creator and a person, with him going against Gero's wishes for him
Metal Sonic deep down has a massive inferiority complex that he masks underneath his superiority complex and silent demeanor, believing himself to be better then Sonic in almost everyway, and during the IDW saga he comes to terms realizing he isn't the real Sonic, which probably caused some change in his characteristics for a while despite remaining a antagonist, Cell on the other hand believes himself to be the embodiment of perfection, believing himself without flaws and the very idea of himself being a flawed person is ludicrous
Cell despite being evil does seem to have some mutual respect for the fighters he comes across, especially Goku, which contrasts Metal Sonic's silent bubbling rage beneath the surface and his absolute hatred towards Sonic, believing him to be the "faker" of the two
Cell, in canon is currently dead and has been dead for a long long while, and hasn't been mentioned in recent aside from his upgraded copy Cell X, whilst Metal Sonic is still alive and thriving in the Sonic universe, despite no longer having his rebellious nature and more advanced upgrades compared to before
Cell is a extreme cocky trashtalker, who enjoys pushing fighters to their limits both literally and verbally, striking low blows against them every chance he gets, Metal Sonic on the other hand is silent and doesn't talk at all in his base form, only when he goes Neo he begins to talk, but it isn't verbal insulting like Cell, it's more centered around his desire to become the real Sonic and loyalty to the Eggman Empire
Cell, despite being an android isn't infact robotic like the others, he is more organic in function, whilst Metal Sonic is more robotic in nature and appearance
