Description
"But the jewel burned the hand of Maedhros in pain unbearable; and he perceived that it was as Eönwë had said, and that his right thereto had become void, and that the oath was vain. And being in anguish and despair he cast himself into a gaping chasm filled with fire, and so ended; and the Silmaril that he bore was taken into the bosom of the Earth."J.R.R.Tolkien, "The Silmarillion"
A watercolour monotype.

Woahhh! That looks amazing! Just--simply--WOW! I was really really depressed when Maedhros suicided (I mean seriously, after all that effort to get the Silmaril?) But this really does him justice ^^ Great!

)

Incredible. You've captured the character better than any other Maedhros art I've ever seen, and it's beautiful, too.

Dayum.
This is pretty ingenious. The colors rock, and so does the whole monotype thing. You know I've never in my life seen a monotype as a Tolkien illustration. Love love love the Silmaril as the light source and the shadow on his face too
I'm so going to fave this with both of my accounts ^_^

wow this is incredible, I love how you get inspired in a piece of literature and then try to translate! Isn't it wonderful?!
By the way, you do most of these pieces by smudging with your fingers, right?

No, the stain is made by pressing two pieces of paper against each other
