Knight Practice 2020 - Day 36 — Description
So a bit of stuff from my writing projects.

Mages in my world are extremely common due to majority of life evolving alongside with a special type of matter. While I dont want to get into details about this matter at this time, the short version is that it allows sub-atomic level manipulation of any other matter or even itself. One of the most common usages during the medieval inspired period was using this matter to compact armaments for carrying. There are many methods of storing items in smaller spaces, one of the most reliable ways was to create an item with "memory blocks" (something akin to runes, but in various shapes, like rings around the grip, or maybe the quillon itself) to preserve the current state of the item. In such method items could be broken apart to small pieces, shrunk down, warped and bent, but could always be shaped back to the original form (It's not an everlasting thing if anyone is wondering, different mages trying to push longer lasting periods). A lot of knights preferred the "Shaft" method, in these cases the item would be formed into a cylindrical shape that could be stored in small containers on belts or put in a backpack or carried in a chest. The weight of the item doesn't change, although there are ways to make things "lighter" in a sense (not really, not without some constant loop of for application or smth, in this magic system mass is easier to add and removing needs some actual "sciencing").

This knight's preferred way to carry equipment is to "pulverize" the sword to dust size particles and store it into a cylinder he hangs on his waist. The reason why is due to small dust sized particles the reassembly of the weapon can be optimized to be the fastest of any method. Additionally due to the knight understanding the construction of the runes on the sword he has a simple time triggering the reassembly process at a distance, allowing him to essentially call the sword to his hand at will.
