Stranger — Description
Last April I moved to San Francisco with lots of big dreams. So many incredible things happened to me while I was their, and I feel as if I made huge steps in the right direction toward my goals. The founder and previous owner of Surface Magazine became my mentor, lover, muse and best friend. I met amazing stylists, worked with great models, and even got published in a magazine for the very first time. When I picked up my very first camera in 2010, I never thought it would have such a profound effect on my life and really help define who I am today, and who I will be tomorrow. I never thought there was a creative or even remotely talented bone in my body. In September, I decided to move back to Portland OR to tie up some loose ends and be closer to my family for a little while. The day I decided to go back home was extremely bittersweet, because I feel like there is nowhere in the world I belong more than San Francisco. The families and friends I made there completely changed my perspective and gave me a very optimistic outlook on my future. That day, I decided to do something different. I went into my favorite part of the city, The Castro, and asked strangers who I felt represented the optimism and energy that San Francisco is so full of to pose for a quick portrait. This is one of those portraits.
