Description Some wild rabbit sketches. I've been reading Watership Down (again. I need to stop.) and thought I'd sketch some bunnies for fun. Maybe someday I'll do a finished piece in honor of the fact that Watership Down is like literally my favorite book.

Finals. I should be studying for finals.

These are referenced from photos, but it helps to have a general knowledge of how these animals are put together.

I like these sketch's but I'm not a fan of rabbits! ^^'
When I was like 5 my mother got Watership Down on video for me
thinking it was a cute kid's bunny film and it ended up scaring the crap outta me! XD

Before I saw that film though I did like rabbits because one of my favourite
videos we had at the time was Peter Rabbit!! <3

Even to this day though when people ask me what is the scariest movie you've
ever seen I have to say Watership Down! And thats saying something because
I've seen some freaky movies! But I guess watching something so violent when your
little changes you! lol

A lot of people think I'm disturbed now. lmao

Oh. My. Goodness.

I had the exact same thing happen when I was a kid. My parents rented the video, I watched it, and after that I could no longer use my red nightlight because it reminded me of a field of blood and those horrifying rabbits. It messed me up too, like for real. I was probably between four and six when I saw that and it stuck in my memory as one of the most awful things I'd ever seen. A few years ago I started to wonder whether it was really all that bad, so I watched it again on YouTube. Guess what? IT'S REALLY ALL THAT BAD.

The stuff of nightmares, man. The book is completely different and I still love it, but hot dang. @_@

Pfff We both messed up by bunny's dude! Haha

I tried to re-watch it last year but I just couldn't sit through it again! ^^'
Like you said it really is that bad! lol

If I hadn't seen it at such a young age I might not be so freaked out by it now
but because I was only little when I saw it I'm still freaked out by it now!

And amg have you seen the plague dogs!? If not then NEVER watch it! D8
Same people who made watership down made the plague dogs.

I only watched that film for the first time last year and I felt so depressed
and even physically sick after that one! I only made it half way through
before I had to turn it off and go for a walk!

And that's odd for me because I can usually sit through some pretty strong stuff!

Game of thrones for example, one of my favourite shows atm!!

These are gorgeous. It's also my favourite book of all time, and I also read it out loud to my bunny when we spend time together =3 I don't think he cares too much, he just tries to eat the pages, lol. Great form in these sketches though.

Nice! I don't often draw bunnies, I should try that sometime. I also want to try sketching bears.

They're fun! Cute but also kind of cool in their own way.

I want to get into drawing bears too, but I feel like I need more general practice first. Bears have so much fur and muscle I just know I'll mess it up. x'D

Everyone messes up their first try. I have a heck of a time drawing deer and other ungulates. :s I'm really not used to their anatomy.

Ooh yay! How do you like it so far? Have you seen the animated film based on it? If not DON'T.

screshh In reply to DaffoDille [2013-12-16 20:24:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it's quite original and I'm liking it SO much *_* I never thought someone could write a novel about rabbits. xD it's simply amazing. I found a very very old copy with yellowish pages on a stand which sold, like, HUNDREDS of old books and comics. I'm actually sorry we can't really talk about it, mainly because I haven't finished it and the characters's names are slightly different .-. (I'm italian.. they translated EVERYTHING and I don't know why, plus most of them aren't even the correct translation -.- oh well).
And no, I didn't even know there was a film about it xD why shouldn't I watch it? Is it that bad..? D:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DaffoDille In reply to screshh [2013-12-17 00:57:32 +0000 UTC]

Haha whaaat why would they bother translating all the names? How strange. Maybe you can get your hands on an English copy sometime.

I saw the film when I was really little and it scarred me like crazy. I watched it again like twelve years later and it was just as bad as I remembered. The characters aren't at all true to the book and pretty much everything that's pleasant about the book is either left out or changed beyond recognition.

Also it's shockingly violent. Like WHY.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

screshh In reply to DaffoDille [2013-12-17 16:05:18 +0000 UTC]

Ahah it's not strange, trust me. XD here we tend to translate every single thing and it's SO annoying. Like, even movie, book, comic etc. titles are awfully changed. For example: Watership Down is "La Collina Dei Conigli" in italian, which literally means "The hill/down of the rabbits" I mean OKAY it's related but WHY not leave the original title? I'll never understand why. It is SO bugging me.. I hope I'll get an english copy. xD
Anyway WTF if you're telling me this I'm never gonna watch it xD I'm sorry it's this horrible.. I hate it when they take too much liberty on transpositions :/ like.. you're ruining an amazing novel.
