Distant Relatives
Thescelosaurus is a basal member of the "bird-foot", or ornithopod dinosaurs, that date back to the Jurassic Period. The most recent, or most derived, members of this group are the duck-billed dinosaurs.
Thescelosaurus shares many of the traits common to the earliest ornithopods, but it lived at the same time as some of the duck-billed dinosaurs in North America.
