Description
So I did one of these. I've actually lost contact with my inspiration so this was a really great exercise.

1. The huge Studio Ghibli corner there are just a few select images that have always stuck with me after watching the movies. I have always been a big fan of Ghibli and the master animator Miyazaki. I love his fantasies. I love how sometimes they make no sense but somehow that's the point and adds to the experience of the film. Anyway the art is amazing and I can go on all day about his films so I'll stop now...

2. "Las Meninas" by Diego Velazquez (1656) is an amazing piece of work and one of my absolute favorites. It's actually really quirky for a pro painting for the royal family of Spain. Velazquez is one of my favorite painters and someone I think my work aligns with in technique. From far away his paintings look traditionally realistically rendered but from a closer inspection you'll find that his brush strokes are actually notably loose. I find this in my own work as well and can't help but feel a connection.

3. None other then C. Monet, "Impression, Sunrise" (1872). Now were into the real impressionism! The quintessential impressionist Monet was. My painting has always reflected the impressionists and so has my illustration probably because of Monet. His studies really opened up the realm of painting into a new world. His studies lead straight into deconstructionism and abstraction way before their time in the mainstream. That's pretty amazing. His revelations on how the eye/brain interprets light and color into a form is part of my core teachings and will always influence my work.

4. Mucha oh course! "Poster for Moet&Chandon: Champagne White Star" (1899). The great Art Nouveau designer. I absolutely love his advertisments/poster work. It's like he just took his painting style and made it a ad staple. Art Nouveau in general is one of my great loves. I wish I had the discipline to incorporate it more into my work and hope to do just that very soon.

Her digital work is so incomparable right now in the field. I really admire her skill and body of work. I also love the movie the piece is based on. If you haven't seen Blade Runner you seriously need to. It is one of the best visually stunning movies that came out of the '80s.

6. Ah Sailor Moon. I really do have roots in anime, I promise. I love the high drama of the shoujo genre and the shoujo bubbles. Sailor Moon was the thing that got me interested in drawing in the first place. I will always have a special love for Silver Millennium. I love all the architecture and the watercolors. I think princess Serenity is my favorite character aesthetically. Who doesn't love that dress and how it catches the moonlight?

7. Talwin Morris book cover design. I have a special interest in the straight lines of the Glasgow style of Art Nouveau. I'm intrigued about how it can have a very vertical aesthetic and keep the spirit of an organic form. This style also incorporated a lot of dark backgrounds and vibrant colors which I am a fan of.

8. Mondrian Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow (1930). Mondrian is the purest form of intersecting paint and design I can think of. It appeals to both sides of me. The logical designer and the theoretical deconstructionist painter. I realized I haven't really shown examples of this influence on this site. Hopefully that will change.

9. And all my friends on here inspire me to keep on improving. It would be a lie if some of their styles don't come through in my own work.

10. Sparkly hanging lights/bubbles/baubles/particles. I love lights in the sky and the magic of fairy lights. I incorporate this a lot in my work.

11. L'Estaque (1905) by Andre Derain is probably one of my favorite pieces. Fauvism in general inspires a lot of my traditional work. "The wild beast" in reference to the intense colors used in place of realistic ones. Matisse headed this movement. I love using color in unexpected ways.

12. Glass! I love glass. The idea of glass containers excites me to no end. Terrariums are some of my favorite things. I really admire people who can draw glass and bubbles and transparent things really well. It's something I'd like to work with.

Man I have a lot of influences..not all of them are here but, I ran out of room

Honorable mentions:
Klimt--that style is iconic and I would love to work with actual gold irl.
Pictorialism--is a photography movement in which you try to create a photo that looks like a painting or drawing. Popular when cameras were first a thing. But I'm not a photographer so.. it's here. Still a favorite though
