Mark was a student at Magic Academy. He was in the woods when he noticed some bright lights in the distance. The lights moved about and changed color. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before. He had to see what they were so he moved closer to investigate.
As Mark moved closer whatever was causing the lights moved further away. They planned their course carefully so he could never actually see them, only the lights. They led him in many different directions separating and rejoining again at an unexpected moment. Perhaps, if he had paid more attention in class when the teacher talked about the mysterious wisps known for getting travellers lost, he would have been weary. As it was he started running after them without paying attention to where he was going and was soon completely lost.
Once certain Mark had no idea where he was, the wisps revealed themselves. He moved his hands trying to grab them. They easily flew out of the way. They played games with him stopping in midair for a while only to fly out of the way a fraction of a second before he reached them.
Mark no longer planned his movements and lashed out at them randomly. As he did his body blurred and changed and his clothes along with him. He became a three dimensional shadow. Then the lights created by the wisps swirled around him. The lights combined into a brilliant white light and then entered the heart area of the shadow.
The light spread through the entire shadow turning it into a white glowing figure. The figure took on a more feminine shape and gained individual colors. All that remained was a lost looking girl wearing a white and gold dress with a blue top, black shoes with straps, and a brown purse. Her eyes were green and her hair was brown with a red bow in it. She looked attractive but more importantly she looked completely bewildered.
"Mary!" one of the wisps called out.
Mary had no idea who she was or what she was doing in the woods yet she recognized Mary as her name.
"It is time for you to go home," said another wisp.
Mary had no idea where her home was but the wisps cast lights right in front of her in the direction they wanted her to go. She followed the lights which led mostly in a straight line. The only exception was when there was an immobile object like a tree or a ditch that she had to go around. Eventually she found a path that led directly to a school.
The school was Magic Academy. The wisps cast their light in the direction of the school but went no further. Mary thought the place they were showing her was her home. Like her name, it was something she sort of remembered.
"Thank you!" shouted Mary as she ran back to Magic Academy leaving the teachers there with yet another problem to sort out.
