DIPA — Description
This was an assignment for Grade 11 Media Arts: create your own art movement. And this is what I came up with

DIPA – Dance-influenced Pop Art

Movement is characterized by:
1. Bright colours
2. Two complementary colours are chosen as the basic colours for the whole composition – one for the background, second one – for the foreground
3. Depicts scenes of dances of any sort - hip-hop, jazz, ballroom, contemporary, Latin, ballet, etc.
4. A variety of textures is mandatory
5. Shows the actual figures of the dancers as well as “the shadows” of their previous movement (like matrix)
6. Is based on a lot of motion and dynamic colours throughout the whole composition
7. The background must be very simple, with the human figures remaining the focal point of the composition
8. Attention to details is important
9. The people can be depicted in a cartoon-like or more realistic matter

Movement rejects:
Abstract Expressionism, Cubism

Movement is a reaction to:
Realism, Pop Art (American), increased popularity of dance in modern culture (appearance of new television shows associated with dance)

Purpose:
- Create even more interest in dance and depicting dance in modern art, besides having the classical paintings of ballerinas in conventional poses.
- Put an end to Abstract movement and have more of proportional figures drawn in motion, without any distortion
- Show the beauty of movement of the human body and the expression of feelings through dance
