Description An animation rendering script for Apophysis adapted from the original animation script by Mark Townsend.

This is used to generate animation "stills" to be compiled later by another application into an animated GIF in PS/PSP/GIMP or Flash, I suppose. I used this script when I created my FractalVision webcam image [link] . The script is ideal for creating animated avatars.

This script takes information from the user by way of user input boxes and alters the script accordingly. I originally created this script because I didn't like having to change the frame prefix in the script editor for every batch I ran. This is one of the few scripts I use regularly and I figured that someone else might find it useful as well.

As an example, the preview image shows a Julian flame that has been rendered into 12 frames at 300x300px with 500 quality, 0.6 filter radius and an oversample of 2.

User Input Fields:
  • Number of frames
  • Render width
  • Render height
  • Render quality
  • Filter radius
  • Oversample
  • Frame prefix
  • Render output folder

I made an extended version of this script myself and thought you should know about it, I also have given you appropriate credit. You can take a look at it here if you're interested: fav.me/d6m6tgw

This is a really great tool .. I used this to make a large animated video to post on you tube and I am crediting your page for this script.

If thats not ok I will remove it etc..

Thanks again

Had a good result from this - see here:[link]

I might have to give this a shot. I've never used Apo's animation capabilities.

How clever to use the script to make images for a composition. This image looks fantastic! I am sure I want to try his too some day. For animations I sofar just used Animation Shop and prepared the frames in psp.

I figured the best way to show what the script accomplished was to show the frames it generated. I did have some problems with the first images I wanted to use of a Julian with a Spherical FX. It was very difficult to see any change between the frames so I switched to a straight Julian.

This is an excellent documentation. Maybe you should post the animation too :D (Big Grin)

Thanks. I sort of put the image together very quickly and because of that, I think the border is too large. It kind of bothers me, but I'm feeling too lazy to redo the preview. Sweating a little...

Good! Because I *like* the frame as it is ;) (Wink)

Interesting..but like ~Marcusstratus said, is it for sheep?

ClaireJonesClaireJones In reply to LyinRyan [2007-04-29 18:30:34 +0000 UTC]

No. This is just a script for creating straight up frames for animation.

Okay...sounds interesting though!

ClaireJonesClaireJones In reply to LyinRyan [2007-05-05 05:14:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, the script is useful for creating things like animated fractal avatars and such. Although, sometimes it's interesting to put something quick together and watch a Julian move around, for instance. :D (Big Grin) It's kind of weird how flames move when in animation mode.

I'll try it. I'm not much of an animator at all. I'll look at trying this!

MarcusstratusMarcusstratus [2007-04-29 17:08:49 +0000 UTC]

do you use electric sheep?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ClaireJonesClaireJones In reply to Marcusstratus [2007-04-29 18:40:26 +0000 UTC]

I don't really work with electric sheep. This script only produces frames to be compiled later into an animation.
