Description

Hi Everybody,

so this is the last trip down memory lane, with my female model studies. some of these projects got rigged as well, but i mostly made these models to study female anatomy and try out new topology patterns.

please ignore the hair on the first 3 models. i did originally make these characters with particle hair, but i went though each character and cleaned up the hair. also now a days i opt for mesh hair, it's just easier for me to rig and animate, but I'll do a few hair studies this year and see if there are any new methods i can rig or use with the toon shader.

i use a front, 3/4, side and back reference photo to help me with anatomy, but for topology i have used several tutorials. i've used totoirals from Angela Guenette's "Blenderella" that i got of of the blender website ( i got it back when blender was in 2.0, so i don't know if they still offer the tutorial. it mostly uses modeling tools, so i don't see why they would get rid of it.), and blender Cookie's female tutorial series.

now i use several different tutorials to make my characters. for my 2024 Study i used box modeling for the head

and James Taylor's female modeling tutorial for the body, hands and feet.

i did have to pay for this tutorial, and he skip over some of the steps, i had to look over his final mesh and try coping it down. but when you go to rig the character, it deforms beautifully out of the box. but it needs help at the elbow finger and knee joints with triangle joints.

for textures, i have to admit i am not really good at. three of the characters just use a material with a little subsurf scattering on them. for 21 i don't think i even used subsurf on it. but for 20 and 24 i was inspired by Ian Hubert and just projected the reference image as a texture onto the mesh. it gives me old video Game vibe than realistic character but i like it better than the plain material.

I guess i will have to make texturing some thing i gotta learn this year as well.

This year 2025 i want to go into several things, learn more about hair, texture and even doing some animal models and rigs.

I hope you enjoyed this walk down memory lane as i did, and that you have a good 2025
