I'll protect you... — Description
This takes place after Too Late?... . It took Flint all day to get Chester out of there and back to the cave, but he managed to do it. He knew that Chester's captors would be looking for them, but none of that mattered. What mattered was treating his wounds and making sure that no harm ever came to him again. He didn't want to leave Chester's side, but he had to in order to get his backpack that was just right outside of the cave. Once he retrieved it he went back into the cave and started to treat Chester's wounds. By the time he was done it was dusk and he determined that it was too dangerous to venture outside so they'd have to try to survive the night. As Chester laid there breathing softly and quietly, Flint sat protectively in front of him and watched out for Chester's captors. He looked out for several hours before finally falling asleep against his best friend. During the night Flint was awakened by Chester having a really bad nightmare. Chester twitched and whimpered and occasionally said something. Flint tried everything that he could to comfort his friend and what finally worked was when Flint sang him a lullaby while he gently pet his head. After Chester finally calmed down Flint went back to sleep and the rest of the night was peaceful. When morning came Flint got up and checked on Chester before heading out to find them some food. He easily found food for himself, but it proved to be more of a challenge agent it came to getting food for Chester, since he's a half human-half dragon hybrid, but he managed to do it. After he got some food, he headed back to the cave and set up a cooking area just outside of the enterance of the cave. As he sat by the fire and cooked his meal, he heard a very big and very loud noise come from inside the cave.
Chester was waking up...
Flint hurried inside of the cave so he could be there to greet his friend. Chester slowly opened his eyes and lifted up his head and the first thing that he saw was Flint. Flint immediate noticed that something was wrong, Chester looked at Flint with fear in his eyes and he was a little timid, Flint reached out to touch him, but Chester cowered away. At first he didn't understand why, but then he got a glimpse of his pupils.
They were slits...
Chester wasn't himself...
He knew that if he didn't act fast that Chester's fear would turn into aggression. He tried to tell Chester that everything was alright and that he was safe and when he did he noticed a small change in his pupils. Chester was still there, he wasn't gone. He eventually got ahold of Chester's face and told him that everything was alright while he rubbed his cheeks with his thumbs. Flint kept saying things like " It's alright...you're safe now." And "I'm here now..and I will never let anyone hurt you again." Eventually Chester's pupils turned back to normal and came back into reality. It was then that Flint realized that they'd not only physically scarred him, but they'd also mentally scarred him and because of that Chester would never be the same...
