Cappitron’s Short-Circuited Rant

Let’s talk about the upcoming ‘Revenge Of The Fallen’ movie. Unless you discover this picture after the movie comes out, in which case thanks for being late to the party, RODGER.

A lot of the plot has been leaked thanks to the toyline. I think what I am most psyched about, is the Jetfire character. He’s a Decepticon stealth jet that transforms into this crazy shark looking robot. But he has blue eyes, so of course that means he’s a good guy! The toy description paints him as a repentant Decepticon, who joins the Autobot cause. This explains the scratched Decepticon logo floating around, and under what context do Optimus and Jetfire combine together.

The Lowdown On The Download

One of the earliest theories I learned about, and still one of my favorites, it the Labeling Theory. In a nutshell, it states that if you were to bombard a person with negative feedback, say, “you’re fat” or “you’re ugly” or “you’re a troublemaker”, then eventually you wear that person down, they internalize the feedback, and then adopt the negative persona.

An experiment that captured its prowess was an informed school campus. Students went up and asked the target, “Hey, you feeling okay?” to which the target replied, “Yeah, I feel great!” But with more and more students coming up to the target with the concern, “You sure you’ll feeling okay?” the target began to consider “Man…I don’t know.”
And thru the power of sheer suggestion, the target went home early because he was convinced he was sick.

As such, I’m sure that if Optimus Prime dropped the moral higher ground routine, he could destroy G1 Megatron’s ambition by continually lambasting his shortcomings.

“You wanted to harness the power of the SUN? On the planet you’re STUCK ON? No sun, no alternative energy sources, Retardicon!”

“No wonder you have a prick-shaped helmet, you must enjoy getting screwed!”

“Do us all a favor and brush your teeth with a bullet from your gun form!”

Anyway, I think the inspiration for this drawing stems from the toyline that is oddly convinced to render Optimus Prime pointing dramatically…even though I think he’s only ever pointed in the intro of the show. It’s much like the energy axe accessory even though it was used only one time.

About the art. Sorry background aficionados, I tried several times to come up with a good background, but every attempt seemed to detract from the joke’s simple nature. So it’s faction polka dots and lazy action lines for you. On the positive side, I was totally skeptical that I would be able to accomplish a sad Megatron face…but it can be done!
