Contest Entry: Expulsion — Description

So where will this end
It goes on and on
Over and over and over again

And here we have my entry to Passion-Equine 's Summer Contest
It took way too long to get the background down, which is obviously the main bulk of the piece. The lighting was so awkward trying to make it not look all orange and sepia-tone! After a lot of fiddling around in the settings and various layers of paint work, it came together :')

My inspiration comes from Thomas Cole (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_C… ) - "regarded as the founder of the Hudson River School". I used to look at his work an awful lot when I did art in school. His focus on the smaller details and the immense sense of depth created in his work has always amazed me! This particular manipulation of mine was inspired his piece Expulsion - Moon and Firelight (upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… ). The strong lighting, the subtle hints towards religion, and the contrast between the left and right are so captivating and inspiring. It was a tough choice between this piece and The Voyage of Life (upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… ) ... which I may still attempt to pixel, if time permits :')

And Balian made the spot for this one, it was a tie between him and Bandit, but Bandit's too rough for a romanticism inspired piece hehe. Enjoy! <3
