Considering this game is supposed to be based on fluidity, speed and style, avoiding viscous bodies of fluid or deep snow is probably in your best interests.
And if it's a salt pile, heaven help you if you sink up above your ankles.
Also you get stuck in this stuff if you bail on it (Sprites for that below, at least if you land headfirst)
