That's a super ironic thing for Rob of all characters to say now thinking about it since now with the Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball HE'S the one in charge of ensuring the show and it's stories continue on and actually avoided becoming part of a future that didn't exist so yeah that's something he would get at his old self for ironically enough.

The thing about the story universe were "status quo is God" is that it eventually rots.

Gumball plays with the idea a lot as it does acknowledge that sort of meta understanding through actually playing with narrative ideas very literally. Remember this is the same show that pointed out "hey characters can get phased out if they don't fit a specific meaning but we're going to get them back even if that leads to more problems down the line."

Ironically... Nightmare Diamond Tiara ... who embodies nihilism, asks this question of Rainbow Dash. That their entire universe isn't "real". (She isn't Scootaloo's guardian, Chrysalis isn't reincarnated into an innocent foal, etc). While crushing her under a gravity spell.
Rainbow Dash, being Rainbow Dash, doesn't break.
