Here is a picture of some rifles of the Lee-Enfield family I took at a military show at the Headcorn Aerodrome, which include (from bottom to top) the Lee-Metford Mk.I of 1888, used during the Second Boer War in South Africa (where it proved no match for the Boers' German-made Mauser Model 1896 rifles due to its inability to accept stripper clips, thus making it much slower to reload), the Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III SMLE of 1908, used during both World Wars (note the copper bands around the barrel for strengthening the stock for grenade-launching purposes), the Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I of 1931, used during World War II up until the late 1950's, and the Lee-Enfield No.5 Mk.I "Jungle Carbine" of 1944, which was essentially a stripped-down, shortened version of the No.4 for jungle warfare against the Japanese in South-East Asia.
