it should work. try adding !important between white and the semicolon.
also, check that there are no errors somewhere in your css (if it contains other definitions): da does not apply a css if it is not strictly compliant with the rules.
if it still doesn't work try substituting white with #ffffff

OMG ARIGATO!! I finally know how to do CSS! I thought when I subscribed to change my journal, and I didn't see how, so I thought I subscribed for nothing.

thank you so much for this tutorial!!!
but..
Can you tell me How can i put the text in the center,Please?

barninga In reply to Hime-tachi [2007-04-24 22:37:52 +0000 UTC]
thanks
you'll have to define a <div> class with a text-align:center; property and use that class in your document where you want the text to be centerd.

This was very helpful. I've been trying to find how to define different sections within the main journal text and now I know. Gonna have some fun with it. Thanks!

Hey man, I've been looking for a tutorial that deals with what the actual class-names to work with are. Thanks a bunch! This will ease the work next time I update the CSS code.

Wow - I'm actually trying to get my head around CSS outside of DA (for my own website construction) but have been struggling to understand it - while this is obviously catering specifically for DA, I think this has probably made the most sense of all I've read so far - so many many thanks for that!

well the concepts you find in the tutorial can be applied to any css, just remember you have no predefined classes
thank you

In the first set example for "my titles" ! and important are separated are they suppose to be that way? Also, I can't get the my titles to work, I put the <div> thing in my journal part not the CSS part and it just looks like regular text, not sure what I am suppose to be looking for or such, but just asking. By far though this is a wonderful tutorial and I followed it so easily Very nice indeed!

barninga In reply to Tinman-20-Tinster [2006-12-10 10:55:24 +0000 UTC]
thanks
blanks around ! are not significant.
did you remember to add a dot before the style name in the css? did you remember not to add the dot in the <div class="stylename"> tag in the journal?
if you can't get this to work, post the style definition (css part) and the <div> tag (journal part) and i'll see if i can catch the problem.

i'm happy you found the tutorial useful.
about "mytitle"... it's a way to define your own personal styles: you invent a name for a style (in my example it was "mytitles", but it could be anything, like "johndoe") and define its attributes by placing them between the curly braces:
.journalbox .journaltext .johndoe {
attributes for johndoe style here
}
just be careful: in the definition above you have to put a dot before the style name: .johndoe
then in the journal you can assign that style to a section of your text, and all the text in that section will get the style attributes you defined above:
<div class="johndoe">text to be formatted here</div>
this time there must be no dot before johndoe.
hope this helps...

I do believe this is the best journal CSS explination I have seen so far. I am a website designer (16 for all it matters), and I couldn't even get a background color up until I read this tutorial. Thanks for doing it, peace out!
