I'll do the next steps of the tutorial on the next days (it's late here and my eyes are a little bit tired
)I you are working now on your own texture and you need to stop for today, you can save the file with the .xcf format.
It will keep all the layers.
DON'T SAVE OR EXPORT as .jpg or .png! If you do that, the layers will be merged together and you'll loose your work.
